  • My ex husband did that to me as he lives in another country so i started sending all his mail back to the senders with not known at this address on the front. Eventually it stopped coming but the the phone calls started from people wanting to talk to him so i had to change the phone number and i have never given him it. Eventually it all stopped, thankfully but it took about 3 years for him to get the message. British airways once lost his luggage and he actually gave my address as his for the luggage to be sent to when it was found, he was back here for a holiday. I refused to take it and sent the guy to the address where he was staying which was his fathers.

it seems that our ex's still continue to be a thorn in the side (cleanest expression i can think of). Still dont understand why my ex still gives my address when applying for jobs etc and at her new employment. Found this out from CSA.

  • people are odd like that, we recently moved into a house where a guy who was there 2 yrs ago is still using the address. We suddenly got a large amount of his mail and he got in touch to explain his redirect action had run out and he'd renew it. I asked him to let people know his new address and he was like 'oh yeah of course' but we're still getting things such as CC bills and DVLA letters. Just returning it now.

    Weird!

(PS GL hope it works out ok :))

I guess you know how it feels for women to be left holding the kids.
Some of them do actually do a bit of work and get the tax credits etc and work term-time only.
Can't you do some work from home?
You should be making a claim for support from your wife who deserted and probably shopped you to the DWP as well or her new fella.
I'd be VERY careful what you say at the interview and just in case I'd start making a cake with a file inside !!
  • enquiry could be then, that if as you mentioned your ex just uped and left, then it would have been near impossible for you to close the joint account as both your signatures would be needed. if this account is still being used then not only could she get access to the money you put in (she may still have cards) some-one some-where may think "hang on? there is a joint account, being used regularly but he's told us he's single". not as strange as it may seem. having worked for the I.R it only takes a small thing like this to become a potential problem.

good luck and well done for being a dad that cares.

    thanks for all the replies

i have contacted several solicitors. their opinion is since that its the first meeting they will not get legal aid to attend. i have to pay. if they arrest me then i can claim for legal aid. i have been trying to gey hold of citizen advice but their lines are always engaged or when you visit their offices the slots are all taken up. was hoping for a list of solicitors who provide a free service.

oh well have to learn to have a poker face and keep my answers short and direct :-(

Keep trying Citizens Advice. Turn up 15-20 mins. before they open so that you get seen.

I wouldn't worry about solicitors (but maybe that's just me). It doesn't sound like you've done anything wrong. It's probably just your ex they want to talk to you about and they just want to check up on their facts. Just be honest with them!

    All the best!

Oh and I would look into getting your "joint" account just put into your name, if it's only you that's using it. Having an account in both of your names looks dodgy if you are separated and have benefit claims that arise because you are separated!
