  • The T & Cs say that one credit of £1500 has to be made but if you can manage this you pay only £4.99 delivery charge for a case of 12 bottles of wine !

I'm not unhappy at all with Smile or their wine offer. I don't drink the stuff anyway and in my opinion a more palatable liquid goes into my car's radiator to stop the water freezing! I was just trying to make a general comment about all the financial and other institutions which don't seem to care that much about existing loyal and long time customers.
The only time I've gained anything like this is when I was a Midland Bank customer, was guaranteed their credit card and as a gesture of goodwill, on opening the account would be credited with £10. I accepted, purchased £10 of petrol with the card and closed the account. Left the Midland soon after, but that's another story.
Just received an email - as an existing Smile credit card customer - offering the same deal, extended until 10th December 2005:
smile wine promotion ends 10th December 2005. All current account applications must be applied for by 10th December 2005. Wine qualification upon first credit transaction of £1500 minimum by 10th February 2006. Wine redemption code will be dispatched by no later than 28th February 2006. A delivery charge of £4.99 is payable upon order of wine. This offer is only available to customer who are residents in the UK. This offer excludes CIS and Co-operative Bank staff. smile has the right to withdraw the offer at any time.

Looks like smile have rolled it out generally for all new customers to apply before 12th November whilst inviting some existing non-bank customers [like myself] to apply a further 4 weeks later than that.
