    Which contract are you on?

You can either go with O2's international traveller service (ITS) or do something else.

If you have 600 mins free on O2, you get ITS free otherwise it is £2.99 and I think calling Russia will come under E. Europe at 40p (or it could be Asia at 30p or Rest of world at 90p depending on how it is classed), but I bet for calling a mobile it is going to be more expensive.

For Russia, O2 PAYG sim is more expensive (60ppm, £5 pre-pay for the service), TalkTalkMobile is 7p/20p to landline/mobile (£15 for the SIM with £10 credit, but your phone would need to be unlocked). T-Mobile can do 5p/15p with a free SIM and aparently you have to "simply text INT to 441 to enjoy these reduced rates" to get an Eastern European pass, but I don't know what the cost is on that and you'll need a spare T-Mobile handset or an unlocked one. Sounds like the best rate though (although I couldn't find details on Orange and didn't look at Vodafone).

    Hope that helps.
