Has anyone had experience of the RBS interest paying current account?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

We use this as our main current account. I really have nothing either negitive or positive to say to be honest.

We credit around 2.5k a month and pretty much spend every penny. We do have a 1k overdraft that we never use. The rate on that is quite high at 18 ish %.
We both have maestro debit cards along with a cheque book and to be honest our credit histories are not fantastic, nothing major just we were not alway the best at paying bills on time and have what may be considered to be a large amount of unsecured debt.

One negitive I can think of is their internet banking site. It truely is a strange thing. We applied for a secondary basic account to use for d/d only and they refused point blank, yet visiting the branch a few days later I happened to mention the refusal and they opened the account on the spot. Another annoying thing I find is they contact us yearly for a 'financial review' which is basically just them trying to sell you their own products.

I have a royalties acct. (Basically the interest paying acct with some extra shiz) and I quite like it.... Not applied for anything online so can't comment on that, but transfers are easy to set up. They gave me a £250 CG card straight off the bat (maybe because my mother has always had her accts with them?) and when I found out my DoB was wrong on their records, they changed it instantly when I popped in branch. No queue.

    Yeah, quite good I'd say.

Proliant, do you have a Key acct. with them atm?

No, I am thinking of moving over to them in the near future, just wanted to scope them before I make the plunge.

With a low credit score you may only be offered a key account :(

Maybe so, the only thing affecting my score is the fact I have had too many searches over the last few months, after say 3 month come August it should be ok. ;)

Personally I think calling it an "Interest Paying Current Account" takes the p*ss in itself, considering it pays, what, 0.1%? It's like offering someone a "double JD and coke", which is two millilitres of JD in a pint of Coke.

I have this account with a £250 O/D. Don't really have anything good or bad to say about it except that their interest is rubbish and their bank charge rate is quite high compared to other banks, £38 for going overdrawn.

Have had one for years and years. The nice bits are the free banking and the free £100 buffer overdraft. The bad bits are the awfull interest rate and the overdraft rate if you go overdrawn. However, when I got my account, I was able to negotiate a better overdraft rate so for me it isn't so bad. RBS are also signed up to the faster payments scheme and offer internet banking so another bonus is the ability to get your surplus funds out of the account and into one that does pay some interest as quickly as possible :)
