Refused Credit

I applied for a Capital One credit card afew weeks back, I received a letter to say I had been accepted however when I rang them a few days ago they said that after another credit check they have refused my application on this time.
Why have they refused my application?
I have only one default and no other debt but Capital One have turned me down 3 times in the last year.
Does anyone know a good credit card I would have a chance with getting?

Space out your applications. Try again in six months time and you might be lucky.0

I thought that however when I applied last year they told me that I could re-apply again in 3 months if my credit file improved which it has.
I have tried Capotal One and Barclay Card now with no luck.
If anyone knows a credit card for people with a default/late payments then please do let me know as Vanquis refused me last year also
I have checked my credit file weekly for the past 6 months and the only thing wrong with it is one default and NO late payments on 15 credit accounts.DELETE ACCOUNT.

Have you considered a pre paid visa. Use that for six months for the convenience factor and then reapply for a Capital One.0

I have a current account with a Visa card but I wanted a credit card to build up my credit rating more as I have 15 settled credit accounts with no late payments.
The only reason I wanted a Capital One card or Barclays Card was to build up my credit more.DELETE ACCOUNT.

Try Monument, they seem to help people including the likes of me.
