PC World Shop Online latest discounts - Partial List

I don't know how many MSErs are aware that PC World has an online system for ordering items to collect instore at a discount to the in-shop prices. The amounts of stock available for collection varies over time but there appears to be quite a lot online at the minute - presumably clearing out lots of stock ready for Christmas?
If you are thinking of buying anything from PC World you should ALWAYS check online before you visit, and if discounts are available order online to collect your item instore. You can pick your items up about an hour after you've placed the order.
To illustrate the levels of discounts available I have listed below a small selection of items available which I checked online tonight. If only I knew how to write code to extract all their online offers it would be great to produce a complete list somewhere :)
In the list the first number is the stock code, the first price in brackets is the store price and the last price is the Shop Online price. As you can see there are some sizeable discounts available.
I can't seem to get tabs to work properly so it's a bit hard to read I'm afraid!
Happy shopping :D

I must add to the list as I have been using them to buy my new PC in the last couple of days and was planning a similar (not so detailed!) post.

They were by far the cheapest uk store for the following 2 items:

R-Type power supply £54.90 (£72.99 in store and cheapest anywhere!):
    http://www.pcworld.co.uk:80/martprd/product/HIPER/HPU-4B580/386527

Creative soundblaster Audigy 7.1 £52.79 (£79.99 in store):
    http://www.pcworld.co.uk:80/martprd/product/CREATIVE/ZS/978779
    cheapest RETAIL version I found.

Also bought the logitech X-530 speaker system a lot cheaper than in store - and cheepest on froogle or google! :)

Hope this stays for a while... never got to PC World without checking their online price first - you don't even have to pay to reserve! :)
Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:
  • The first time I did this I went to the customer service desk and had to wait in a queue for ages to the get the order, but then the manager told me that you can just take the item of the self and take it to the tills with the print out. That way you don't even need to wait for the staff to get it off the shelves!

When I did it, they had no idea what I was talking about and claimed to have no knowledge of my online order. Large PC World at Staples Corner.

LOL Thats a wicked line cant wait to take !!!!!! outta work babes LOL any hoo

Right, I dont know squat about whats hot and whats not on this list so i was wondering whether some of you might be willing to shed some light onto this.

What would be worth buying on this list which will last me at least a year and whether there will be even bigger price cuts elsewhere so i shouldn't buy from here and, where im such a gaming media heavy guy i was wondering whether the graphics and sound cards will be able to cope with the newer games about to be released on the PC??

    Thank Youuuuuuuu

Admittedly very important but I don't think you can claim copyright on something you've unashamedly nicked from Knight Rider :rotfl:
    Can I help?

  • I have used the PCW Collect and Go for a few bargains. Certainly worth checking the website if you are looking for something.

As regards the signatures it is to do with the forum software as lots of users were automatically given signatures that "belonged" to someone else.

To remove your signature or change it, go into the beige bar up above where it says UserCP (control panel) and then edit signature and change, HTH icon7.gif

Anyone thinking of using the online system can get a 5% discount by using the code *** code removed by Board Guide - please see here for explanation *** when checking out. I bought the McAfee Internet Security Suite 2005 a few weeks ago, and the discount worked for me.
Just checked it out again now, and its still a goer.

Only downside is that the software scrwed up my system so I had to uninstall it. PCWorld won't give me a refund on the software, because they say it isn't faulty!!
  • just a note on pc world

i bought a pc from them 3 weeks ago and all i've had is problems
finnaly took the pc back to the store and have never seen any thing like it at the customer sevice desk.

there were 4 custmoers in front of me and they were all trying to bring back faulty pcs. the way they were treated by the staff was disgraceful.i saw staff just walk away from customers they were dealing with because things got a bit difficult.

customers staging sit ins at the customers service desk.
staff using any excuse they could not swap or refund the customer
even as far telling customers to get a solictor.

even with my pc i was fobbed off. i rang the store to see if they would exchange my pc and they agreed.
went to the store 60 mile round trip got there and then they refused and then asked me if i had it writting that they would exchange my pc.

to be honest i think if your buying hardware they may be fine but i wouldnt advice any one to by a pc from them . they just dont care once they sold u the thing. if id seen aque like that at customers services before i bought my pc i would have walked out.

i bet it the the same at most pc world stores go in in the evenings and see for your self
