Hi all i was wondering if someone can help me i am being stressed out by Pipex. I originally asked them to provide me with broadband and was told by the ever helpfull customer service guy that i was going to be on a package that would be all in unlimited usage andf would be £9.99 a month.
I agreed over the phone to a 12 month contract at £9.99 a month as i didnt want anyother bills so thats why i wanted unlimited.
unfortunatly after 3 months I checked my bank account online and realised i had been charged £25 every month when i rang them and complained the said i was not on a unlimited package, i stated i was unhappy as they did not even write to me as their letter stated it would if the direct debit amount was to changed they just took the money. After a fewmore phonecalls to various dept i was told if i was unhappy they would cancel the contract so i agreed. since last week i have been harrased by a debt collecting agency for the sum of £121 for cancellation of contract surely this cannot be allowed?
After spending £400 TO THE CARPHONE WAREHOUSE FOR A PHONE I DONT HAVE OR USE ANYMORE WITH ANOTHER £600 TO PAY I AM GETTING FED UP WITH THESE PEOPLE ......HELP!

Yes it can.
Pipex is owned by Tiscali and Tiscali are notorious for extremely poor customer service and billing people incorrectly.
I suggest you do all this:
1. Contact OFCOM and make a complaint about them. Tell OFCOM that you have contracted Pipex (Tiscali to complain on the telephone without success.)
2. Write to Pipex (Tiscali) send your letter by recorded delivery. Keep your complaint to one side of A4, state they have breached the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (as amended) which is why you cancelled the contract and you will take the issue further if they don't tell the debt collectors to leave you alone and restore your credit file.
3. Then wait 12 weeks and go to arbitration.
(All this information is here: http://www.pipex.co.uk/legal/customer-complaints-code-of-practice.php)
4. Contact the debt collection agency and inform them that you are in dispute with Pipex (Tiscali).
5. Then to clear your credit record up at the end you may need to do a Data Subject Access Request, where you use the Data Protection Act to demand all the information that Pipex holds on you including information from your credit file. This is a lot of hassle for the Data Controller so they generally do what you ask them so they don't have to get the records.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

surely you got either paperwork or emails confirming the package you were offered, and the price? the same contract will have included details of the termination fee you are being charged, similar, i presume, to the one charged on your mobile contract
£1000 for a phone seems a bit steepUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
this address for complaints is actually wrong and they know it is wrong on the website!
.it is
PO BOX 273 welwyn garden city hertfordshire AL& 1YA.In any case they just send you a rubbish letter asking again for all the account details you have already given them.
They also dont respond to data subject access requests... so it will be a long battle complaining to both CICAS and the information commissioner. the more of us do it, the better....0
