Moral question (and how much should two new tyres cost?)

I recently bought a 9 year old Mondeo for £460. The ad said it had "four good tyres", but in fact the two front tyres need replacing. So my moral quandry is this: should I ask the seller for a contribution to the cost of the new tyres? I don't think she was trying to cheat me; the tyres were nearly new, they just have a gash in the tyre wall.
And secondly, I've never needed to change the tyres on a car before. Can anyone suggest how much to pay? I've heard that £50-£100-ish would buy you a reasonable set of tyres. Should I just pick a random garage?
Thanks all!

If you have already purchased the car then tough, you needed to have checked the tyres etc before your purchase.
I'd go to a local garage, or ring them and get a quote, depends on what brand you want..?BSC Member 155

for a decent set of tyres that arent remoulds you will be looking for £100 - £200 but it depends on the type of tyre - low profile etc..
go by word of mouth on the tyre dealer. i have a local independant garage near me and the after sales service and his attention to detail is excellent. plus his price is competitive tooDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -
you have no comeback with a private sale, its sold as seen, you should have checked everything before agreeing to buy it.
you should get a couple of budget tyres for under £100,try some of the online tyre places they can be cheaper.
try blackcircles.com ive used them before and was happy with the price and service....work permit granted!0 -

Well, strictly speaking, it must be "as described" and it wasn't.I'd go to a local garage, or ring them and get a quote, depends on what brand you want..?
I just want a cheapo brand. I rarely use the car anyway. I know nothing about car tyres (in case that hasn't shown through yet...)0 -

Thanks for the tip re: blackcircles.com!
PS You're wrong on the "sold as seen", any description provided must also be accurate...0 -

Under the sale of goods act, goods sold by private sellers must be "as described"...so I do have a come back. It's just whether I want to use it. Probably not.0 -
