Savacard what a bloody rubbish idea.

My neighbour sent his 14 year old son to get some Clover spread a few weeks back it was BOGOF but you have to have a Saver card, he didnt have one so asked for one at the checkout but you have to be over 16 to have or use one so he couldnt get the Clover BOGOF stupid or what !

If i go to Somerfield i just get a new card each time i visit use it once then give it back to the checkout assistant :)

Hopefully, you should get one. I received one in May. However, I do use the store quite frequently for milk, bread, lottery, etc, and to check out their special offers. Their bread tends to be a day fresher than my local Asda.

I visit the Ladybarn, Manchester branch, and their staff are really friendly and the most helpful supermarket staff I have encountered.

I just don't bother with Somerfield anymore. Ours was previously a Kwik Save too.

I go sick of finding I'd bought an out-of-date loaf or green cheese, or hubby coming home with 6 pints of milk and a day to drink it. Nightmare store, our local.

The food in our Somerfield is much fresher than Kwiks, and I'm a 'date checker' so I'd probably avoid anything up to its sell by date, unless it was being eaten that night.

I love the reduced items, because as chrislee says they can be up to 75% off, thats how i've got 3 big pieces of roasting beef in the freezer for Xmas, for about £2.50 each...and they are massive!

I love my competitions, so I'll be going there for the odd pint of milk or paper every day!!

    Thanks chrislee.

So ideally you need to do small shops and put each item through by itself swiping your card each time (unless its for multi buys of course).

How do you know if your card is registered or not if you have had your card for a long time? I suppose if you are not sure its best to get a new card and register?

I emailed them with my card number, and asked if it was registered to me, the reply was that it wasn't, but she then did it for me on line.

  • Having worked at a distribution centre for somerfield for over 6 years i personally think that somerfields deals are getting to be the best. at the mo they have coke on bogof when sainsburys usually sell for no better than buy 2 get one free.

The issue i have with my local somerfield is lack of choice, (but being a british company i do my best to support it), although we had a new asda open up in the town and it's just as bad for that even though it's bigger.

as for the comp. sounds like fun and i'm so bored with my nectar card. I always get confused overthe 2 points per penny. and buy things thinking they are a better deal than they actually are.

question about the competition.is ther a limit on the no. of times your card can be swiped? i don't want to have to go in every day only to find out it's one swipe per card per week. and is there a minimum spend to activate a chance of winning?

  • Cybercider Which distribution centre you work in?

According to the staff book, Head office will keep an eye on saver cards used over 5 times (but i think thats to put off staff putting a savercard through repeatidly over a shift, maybe to win themselves prizes?)
But in the customer leaflet if strictly you can enter as many times as you like, and theres no minimum spend!

My OH works for Somerfield, and has come home with A Big Swipe badge on! Have to agree with you about their deals at the mo, but they need to be good,a s Somerfield has to be the most expensive supermarket around. Even with her 10% discount its cheaper to drive 20 miles to Tesco, who also have more choice!
