Somerfield: The Big Swipe!

Options
Hello,
I work in a Somerfield (Hayling Island).

On the 21st of this month Somerfield are launching a new marketting scheme: 'The big swipe!'.

To encourage more people to use their saver card, and shop there i guess they've come up with this masterplan.

The big swipe: When you use a saver card you can instantly win a prize. There is a 1/16 chance of winning (apparently). The prizes range from Mars bars, to luxury holidays.
The prizes print out on the coupon machine.
1. Make sure your address is registered to the saver card (if youve lost the application and never handed it in, but use the card then re-apply).
2. Make sure you check that the printer hasnt printed anything out... if in doubt ask, because when the operators been sitting on the till for 4hrs its the last thing on their mind (from experience).
3. Make sure you use your saver card all the time, no matter whether purchasing a special offer or not.

Hopefully the above 3 should increase your chances of winning. Oh and good luck! There should be a lot of advertising for this (TV, Papers, Instore) so make sure you see these for further details. Any questions ill try my best to answer (obviously not on behalf of somerfield :p)

(oh and whats in it for staff... nothing :()

    Hi Chrislee

Is there a good time of day to go and look for reduced items? Our Kwik Save has just been revamped and opened as Somerfield.

I always use my saver card, unless I'm buying just a paper or sandwich, I'll make sure I always use it now. what happens if you pay at the self service till, I don't think that churns out the money-off vouchers does it?

Another question, if you have a spend £10.00 get £1.00 off slip, and a spend £20.00 get £2.00 off slip, and you spend over £30.00, can you get £3.00 off with using both slips??

When the wine offers are on, if you spend £20.00 say on 6 bottles of wine, then you get the 5% wine discount, can you then use a spend £20.00 and get £2.00 off voucher, or can't that be used because although the price of the wine is £20.00, the till's taken 5% off??? Sorry if I'm not making it easy to undersatnd!!

    Thanks

  • It was my birthday on Saturday. Today I got a birthday card from Somerfield inside it's got a £5 Gift Voucher you can use it to treat yourself with are compliments to any bottle of wine or your choice from our confectionery range. I was well please anyone had one.
  • 1. Reductions are done as late as possible. For best finds trying goint about an hour before they shut. Maximum (by policy) they will be reduced by is 75%.

    2. No not technically, but you could split your shopping into 2 :)

    3.
    If the wine is £20
5% off takes it to £19
£2 off takes it to £17
I hope this practical method explains! I get what your saying, but no paying by coupon doesnt affect the percentage.

Can I go instore and pick up a new saver card? I've never had one before. Or, do I need to send away for one? Just trying to work out whether I can still try for the competition or whether it will take too long to apply>?
  • You should be able to pick up a card instore (if they have any in). Just fill in the little registration form (basically name and address) and hand it in. This should enable you to enter the competitions!

  • Grrrrrrr Somerfield are on my hate list at the moment. They are hopeless with special offers, they never have any! but as soon as the offer is over, stock is on the shelf. Also half the time they charge full price by mistake, thats if you manage to find any offers, and if i buy something reduced, they never notice the huuuuuge reduced bright yellow sticker! I am fed up of going back there the next day for refund! Moan over, feel beter now!

    £2 saving club.......nothing. I'm not a member :D
  • lovebargains... I can relate to that. My work within SF is SSM, which is what all the products within the store are under, and i have a certain control over.
When something goes on offer it becomes ESM which I have no control over, its completely head office.
Theres nothing worse than rationing tea-bags and we try to fill shelves with stuff we havnt got. I believe its been raised at meetings (from looking at somerfield internal publications), but still theres great room for improvment.

But not scanning reduced items and charging full price.. theres no excuse for that!

I just don't bother with Somerfield anymore. Ours was previously a Kwik Save too.

I go sick of finding I'd bought an out-of-date loaf or green cheese, or hubby coming home with 6 pints of milk and a day to drink it. Nightmare store, our local.
