Hiya
For the last couple of days i think i have rang every b & b in cardiff and they all fully booked, i tried hotels first no luck there either.
I have never been to cardiff before we going to madonna concert so was going to make a weekend of it, was wondering if anyone could advise the the nearest town/village that i could try to book for the weekend which has easy access into cardiff.
Many thanks
Ange

Hi
we've just come back from cardiff, we went for the rugby millenimum weekend, and it was full of around 40 000 fans so i to like you had trouble finding a hotel.
there was 4 of us and we ended up booking a private apt, worked out cheaper and the apt was lovely
give me till tonight and i'll pm you the details,0 -
thanks will give them a try. how much was the apt, did they charge pp or just a flat fee to rent it?0

fantastic apt, in a great location, and the guy was ace to deal with, although he sometimes takes a few days to get back to you, because he is sometimes at his home in america.
but i can't fault him.
if you speak to him tell him lynn and the family who booked for the rugby weekend recommended him.
we have booked again provisionally for the rugby again0 -
thanks have sent email and mentioned you too.0

This one often seems to have rooms when everywhere else is booked up. If you ask for a discount, it's £79 for either a single or double, and it's VERY nice accommodation, if a bit out-of-the-way (towards Newport, close to M4):

As a last resort, I do let out rooms in Newport City Centre, but I've only got a very small single available atm...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
I'm presuming this is for the night of 23rd August.
The closest I can find is the Lachwen Hall in Pontypridd for £65. Its not unacceptably far but it is a fair trek up the A470. The other alternative is the St Marys Hotel and Country club, who have 2 rooms left @ £70. They are about the same distance away from Cardiff (ie, about 10 miles) one is West along the M4 and one is North along the A470.

Personally I don't think there's much difference, they both require you to drive on a motorway/dual carriageway to get to, they both charge about the same and they're both equally far. I suppose it depends on whether you prefer golf or countryside views:A:A:A:A:A:A0 -
google for B&B accomodation in penarth or barry. both have excellent, regular bus and train routes in cardiff which will drop you virtually right outside the millennium stadium
also, you will probably get a better response if you PM the board guides, crabman and savvy, and ask them to move your thread to the wales boardknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
