    Hi claffys

i have 3 to do this week, a 30, a present and a high school musical!

I joined a course at a school which was half way through, very basic though. Done 5 weeks there. Learnt how to do lillies and fill in flowers, I had taught myself how to do roses, carnations and daisies ;)

I made my first one, the clown, in december. Keep meaning to buy dummy cakes but dont seem to have the time to practise for them, maybe one day eh!

Did you go on a cake decorating course? All your cakes are fab!

I love baking but never done the cake decorating part....I was thinking of doing a course..has anybody done one and are they worth it?

    Thanks
    Jo

Thanks, I joined a course half way through, it was very basic. The teacher could not continue due to family commitments and I never went back. I would say a proper accredited course would be worth it. But I can't seem to ofind one, my local college did a course but there was not much call for it and they cancelled it :( I was waiting for weeks for the phonecall for a start up date and when I rang they said it had been cancelled!

Just practise yourself at home, thats what I did. You know yourself if somethong looks right, if it doesn't, just eat it! ;)

  • hello can i just say that i make novelty cakes also. Thought yours were really impressive and i am too considering how to go about making cakes and selling form your own home. I have never done a course either and would really love to learn how to do flowers. I've heard they're not too hard to do. Is that true??

That's right, they are not too hard...just time consuming! Certain flowers are really finicky (sp) too, but it can't all be easy can it!?

That is an awesome cake! I've had a go at decorating cakes before, with varying levels of success, but that is just fab! Well done!!
