  • did you do this access course online, as i would like to do and online access course, but have not been successfull in finding one?
    any info appreciated thanks
    Nice to save.
  • No, I am doing the Access course at college.

Have you thought about the Open University? You need 'points' to do a degree level course - for example the course I would eventually like to do you needed 180 points to get on. You can 'transfer' points in (So I would assume my access certificate would be worth so many points) or you can do 'starter' courses which are worth 10, 30 or 60 points depending on which one you do. So to do a degree with no 'points' to transfer in, you could do three 60-point courses. I think the 10 point courses are about £100, and the 60 pointers between £400 and £600.

  • I've had disappointments with the vision2learn courses too.

I registered a couple of years back for next steps in IT and it took ages to get started. I had at least one, possibly two changes of tutor, and then asked if it would be possible to be changed to Wizard on the Web course, as it was too easy. Eventually after a lot of bother this was done, with yet again more changes of tutor. There had also been some confusion originally as when I didn't hear from the allocated college, I found out that they didn't actually do it! This was crazy as I had filled in a application form and sent it off and was supposedly accepted. Due to illness and other things I had to withdraw from the course. Eventually I started the money management course, and because I was taking a long time to go through it, (again, this was because of health) I was told that students were expected to finish the courses in a certain length of time. I tried to argue the case that I thought online courses were there so people could go at their own pace. I was told that because the courses were paid for, they could dictate the expected time they had to be completed in. So overall, not a good experience for me.
  • Ive tried to apply for some of these courses. however it tells me that theres only one course in my area.

Is there a way around this considering the course is online and u do not need to go to college.

I tried two different postcodes my home one and my work one.

Anyone got any ideas, i really wanted to do either :

    Web Entrepreneur
    Starting up a Business
    Money Management

If not, does anyone know any other online learning sites that offer similar courses cheapily & get a recognised qualification?
  • The problem with the Vision2Learn courses which include management, they doen't seem to be "true" online courses. They are done in conjunction with various colleges around Britain, and you actually fill in an application form from the designated college near your home. These forms are exactly like as if you were applying to go that that college in the normal way. I tried to find other online courses at the time, but there wasn't anything going in the UK at the time, other than the V2L courses. It maybe different now, as I haven't looked recently.
