All the pound shops will have themed decorations, paper plates etc
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Have you had a look at Pinterest yet? Its a bit like MSE in that you easily spend all day on it! Search through the Holidays and Events boards....you'll be amazed at what people come up with. I think I spend most of my days wondering "Why didn't I think of that?" :) Especially when your on a budget. This year I'm totally using the idea of cutting eye holes in empty loo rolls, putting glow sticks in them and hiding them in the bushes! :D

or green glowsticks in white balloons, and draw on a spooky face (eyes etc) with black marker. The photo is "doing the rounds" on facebook.

Or visit somewhere like "The Curious Caterpillar" that sells all kinds of party stuff - have a look at their Halloween range and see if you can adapt any of it to suit your budget...?

Alll saints eve on a budget. No hang on, this is the emporiums fleecing customers in a travesty of evil.
  • Hello all :) We're having a grown-ups party this year and I'm going as Emily from Corpse Bride

I've got the wig sorted (I have really short hair) but would love suggestions on diy-ing the costume! I can't afford to buy a wedding dress to rip up and the proper costumers are 25 quid plus for something really tacky.

My husband is of course coming as the groom haha. He has it easy!

I'd second the suggestion for a charity shop. Many of the very old fashioned wedding dresses seem to crop up there, and sleeves could be cut off and the bottom ripped. Alternatively I'd fashion something out of an old white bedsheet. In order to make this an impressive costume, I think the most important thing is the makeup and there are some amazing tutorials on Youtube!
  • I'm currently checking ebay every day for wedding dresses. I can't use mine as it was a sort of sticky-out tea-length dress. Feels so weird looking at dresses again!
