Halloween Party! (merged)

My partner and I are going to be hosting a Halloween party next week and we need to do this on a budget so hoping to do most of this from what we have in already
. It is a BYOB so drink isn't a problem however we are going to be providing the food.
I'm just wondering if the following sounds good- home made wedges (maybe with paprika and/or chilli powder on them?)
- bean curry
- pasta dish - not sure what exactly yet!
- couscous salad
- tomato houmous
- carrot sticks
- pumpkin or butternut squash tart
- tomatoey scones
- boodle biscuits
- vegan chocolate cupcakes
. I'm staying away from rice as I worry about it being left out and any left overs that may happen which is why I've gone for the potato, couscous and pasta route.
Would you be happy going to a halloween party with the above on offer?I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0 -
i buy in some satsumas/oranges and draw little pumpkin faces on the skin, they look like cute little pumpkins. i also did homemade wedges last year which went down a treat. i also roasted parsnips in honey and people loved them. also found jelly moulds in ASDA and poundland to make jellies (also got jelly sweets like worms etc from a factory shop and put them in jelly.
hope this helpsNow living within my means!0 -

Ooo the orange idea would be cute next to the pumpkin my partner will be carving. Shouldn't have to worry about buying any as we got 5 organic oranges reduced (for 42p
) that should still be good next week if I keep them in the fridge (I've had reduced oranges like this last 2 week in the fridge before :rotfl:). I will have to see if our budget will stretch to parsnips as they are rather expensive (if we can I'll put agave on them in place of honey). Not sure about the sweets - they all seem expencive for what I consider junk
. Will have to talk that one over with my partner and also see if we can afford it on the budget we have.
ABSOLUTELY! I would be most impressed... Can i come?? At least it looks like it will be okay. It's just we can't afford the usual load of food people serve. It's a good thing we are known for doing things differently. I doubt people will realise it was done on a budget when it comes to it but I do worry they will think we are being stingy after saying they had to bring their own drink!

It all sounds more than enough. If budget was really tight I would ask people not only to bring drinks but also a dish to share with others. We recently had a pot luck lunch at the church and it was a great success.0

. I guess pot luck would be an option for most people but as I'm vegan I didn't think it would be fair. Some of the people coming are my partners friends that even over 4 and a half years of being with him I don't know  and they don't know I'm vegan. The way we are doing it is most the meals are going to be vegan and people can if they want to ask for meat and my partner will do that for them. Thinking about it we still need to get some plastic bowls for people to eat out of . It's a good thing I realised that now and not on the day!

Sorry if this thread already exists, I did a quick search and couldn't find anything!!
Well after weeks of nagging my other half has finally relented and let me have a Halloween party!! Woohoo!
I'm looking for great prop/ decoration ideas that I can buy cheaply or make myself!
Has anyone thrown a great Halloween party on a tight budget?

because advice can vary according to the age range of party!0 -
Although I'm not normally a fan of The Range, we did manage to buy quite a few cheap(er) Halloween decs there a couple of years ago......not sure if there's one near you, but might be worth a tryMortgage-free for fourteen years!
