I feel very embarassed now, I got married in July, and originally it was hung up in a dress bag in my husbands wardrobe (no room in mine
) until my husband squeezed it into a cupboard!!! And I haven't had it cleaned, at the time could think of better things to spend £150.00 on!!!

Mine cost £90 for cleaning and packing 2 years ago. The price was based on how much decorative stuff there was. The box was beautiful and I cried when I put all the accessories away with it.
My mum never kept her dress but I remember playing at a friend's house when I was little - we used to dress up in her mum's dress. It was fantastic. Now I've got my own little one I'd happily keep my dress so she can play with it if she wants to .0 -
2 options recommended by your friendly ex-Sketchleys Dry Cleaner :-)
1. Get it professional cleaned and boxed. We used to cost the clean based on the dresses value.
2. Use a vacuum bag, which you can buy from many places. Bung it in the bag and seal it with your vacuum and it wont take up so much room. Not completely sure if this will do loads of damage but I doubt it and it'll be the cheaper option ;-)0 -
I was told in the shop where I bought mine that if your dress is silk it needs to be able to breathe. Mine is hanging on the side of the wardrobe covered in an old duvet cover at the moment (wedding isn't until May), but the shop told me absolutely not to leave it packed in the plastic bag they gave it to me in to transport it home, so the vacuum bag option sounds a bit dodgy to me.
I've got to have mine cleaned before the wedding as it was a shop sample and has a few marks on it - I've been quoted £175!! I took it to the cleaner for an estimate, carried it in in the duvet cover and he said it was rare to see that somebody had actually been given the correct advice for storage, and that what I was doing was the right thing.Make £2025 in 2025

tee hee - my wedding dress only cost me £63.75!!
Full length ivory silk from Jasper Conran at Debenhams, originally £400, reduced first to £200, then £75 in the sale. The store had not kept them in bags so most of the dresses had some of the tiny beads missing, but not the one I found!! Mum had 15% off voucher so bargain at £63.75.
I got married in April 2004, still have the dress in the (not plastic) storage bag. Not sure what to do with it but, as it was so cheap, I thought I might try giving it to a local college that does theatre courses, I figure they must have a wardrobe of costumes - although I can't immediately think of any plays requiring a wedding dress lol!Highest debt - £24500

Mine cost £15 - we Moneys Savers know how to get discounts!
I am ashamed to say mine is still hanging off a picture in my spare room in a dry cleaning bag I havent even washed it (wedding was in August).
Am planning to hand wash it and then store in acid free tissue in one of those jumper storage bags. Hope that will be enough, I couldnt part with it.
