Has anyone done a really great usa roadtrip lately.:D
We've done a road trip around the USA for the last 7-8yrs and this year im really struggling to find some where that really grab's us, if you know what i mean. We really enjoy a good open road and lots of little small town america places to stay, ending up with a few days just relaxing on a nice beach some where, We usually go May or September.
We've done -
California, LA to San Francisco - 101 Pacific Highway
Sacramento - Gold Rush route
Yosemite,
Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Death Valley, (twice)
Utah, Monument Valley
Zion NP - Bryce Canyon
Miami, Florida keys (twice)
Boston & New England
Where have you been? Where are you going? any ideas, suggestions, or itinerery's would be great

How about Las Vegas - Salt Lake City, Utah (Mormon Temples, Antelope Island) - Jackson, Wyoming (Yellowstone Park + Old Faithful) - Moab (Canyon Lands and Arches National Park) - Flagstaff (Grand Canyon, Lowell Observatory and Petrified Forest) and then back to Las Vegas, via the Hoover Dam and Route 66 through Kingman?
Also not forgetting that a lot of these places have micro breweries too!
Took us just over 2 weeks.A friend is someone who understands your past, believes in your future, and accepts you just the way you are.0 -

Wow, I read your title and was ready to write a load of advice but then I read where you'd been. Your experience blows mine away. I'm jealous
I hear Boston's very nice. Maybe Seattle ...
Ah, just re-read you post and you've done Boston and although it's mentioned, I bet you've been to Seattle too. Blimey.

Boston & New England
I suggest, like an earlier poster the Moab area, with Canyonlands, Arches National parks, rafting and biking etc and then on up into Colorado and the Rockies.
With New England where all did you go? (Saying that I hear they are expecting a bad year for Red Tide up along the Maine coastline so what I was going to suggest may not be such a good idea!).0 -
On Saturday we are flying to Denver, and working our way to Yellowstone and back to Denver.
Will be passing through Cheyenne, Laramie, Grand Tetons, Cody, Thermopolis and back to Denver.
Wished we had longer than two weeks!
Happy trails!0 -
Thankyou all so much for your ideas :T
Belnahua, Yes ive been looking in to doing this trip, SLC, Jackson Hole, YNP,
Grand Teton NP, Montana but not sure about what time of year to go. Would give LV, GC, Hoover Dam a miss as weve done them, infact we drove straight through LV last year to get to Death Valley as weve done it twice allready. May could still have snow, September could be getting cold. and would still really like the last few days on the beach. However could still be a possibility. Do you know if you can fly straight to SLC?
Mitchg, Was also thinking of this trip. Vancouver, Kamloops, Jasper, Lake Louise, Banff, Calgary. or maybe the other way round so we can have a few days on Vancouver Island. Also maybe do the Rocky Mountaineer or the Whistler Mountaineer, Infact i was having a look at a few videos on youtube yesterday the sceinery is fantastic but gosh those train's are noisey.
mrslds, I agree Grand Canyon is just breathtaking it brings a tear to my eye every time we go, and you can feel like your the only ones there when you get away from the crowds. Monument Valley is also just fantastic, ive seen it so many times on those old John Wayne cowboy films, my husband done his 1st ever horseride in MV unforgettable (and also very funny).
wdw, We fley into Boston, Salem, Cape Ann, Kennebunkport, Bar Harbour, Arcadia NP, Mt Washington, White Mountains, Green Mountains, Rhode Island, Managed to do it just at the beiginning of the leafpeepers season so the colour of the trees was glourious.
Crossy, We were also thinking of this trip, What was your deciding factor on flying into Denver over Salt Lake City? Are you staying in YNP? are you visiting Mount Rushmore? Have a great time, post back your views when you get back.
Anyone more ideas?
Has anyone done The South, Atlanta, Smoky Mountains, Savannah, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Cape Fear.
Its such a Big Big country, and i think once you've done a road trip and enjoyed it your hooked, i know we are:DMy mind tends to wander............If found please return;)
