All i'm saying is the OP does not need to be told in a million different ways where she has gone wrong -or to be solely blamed for the state of the housing market. What she needs is genuine advice on how to get out of the unenviable position she has got herself into.
Spot on Scorpio. The nasty posts on here are quite jaw dropping at times when people are asking for advice!! I also get sick of the BTLers getting blamed for the state of the housing market when every house owner in the last 10 years has tried to get as much for their property as they can.
The OP was trying to help her children and followed the advice being given at the time.

Thank you and on that note I am going to bed because I for one will have an 8 year old coming into his mum's room pre dawn for cuddles and breakfast.
For those who have kindly offered advice I thank you from the bottom of my heart.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

This is just the start of things, wait until a few months then we will be hearing some heartbreaking stories and why because too many people have not done research, it really is simple as that....It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
It is the name calling and wallowing in others misfortune which is doing you no favours
i am a nice person :A
i just dont understand the logic behind
"my BTL failed me, boo hoo is me. oh and i wasnt in it for the money"
the bit in bold is what angers me, if she said, i was in it for the money i would be offering advice on all the methods i know of increasing cash, decreasing debt ect. but why pretend her BTL was for a noble cause and not for money?0 -

Do you have children Cells? I am assuming not because if you did have children then you would realise that us parents see a hard time ahead for our offspring in so many ways.......secure jobs, housing to name two!
If you keep up with the news you will realise that more and more "children" in their 20's and 30's are relying on mum and dad to see them through life and are not the independant souls of years gone by who left home and only called around for Xmas and birthdays!
You are being cynical and assuming that the OP was in it for short gain money, when infact there are many parents who are investing in this way to actually help their children in the future so they will have a home of their own to live in.
You need to step outside of the box which is created by TV programmes, media etc on what BTL is about and see that there are people who genuinely are working bloody hard, stressed out and on their knees trying to provide for their childrens future in a way they were told would help.
Try not to post so aggressively and delight in the downfall of someone who is asking for help. You have valid points to make, but just make them in a kinder and more articulate way without needing to name call or belittle people.

This was not a greedy lets get rich scheme. We wanted to buy three houses
I'm sorry, but that IS greedy. It was "investors" like you who drove up house prices to unsustainable levels, meaning my children and others of their generation were priced out. Now the chickens are coming home to roost, you have no-one to blame but yourself.
As has been pointed out, you took a gamble, and you lost. If you had won, and house prices had kept on rising, you wouldn't be on here moaning, you'd be counting your money and not sparing a thought for the people you had priced out of owning a house.
Anyway. Best of luck getting it sorted. [Big hugs] :grouphug:poppy100 -
Well i am sorry things didn't work out for you but if i was you i would get out now while you can. I can not see prices going anywhere but down for the next 1-3 years and i think it will be another 3-4 years after that before the market booms again.
Take comfort in the fact that your not the first to gamble and lose and you won't be the last that finds them self in this position. The market will always rise and fall, in 15 years time we will probably be in a situation where this horrible housing price mess starts all over again!
I am no expert but this is my opinion, i just hope it helps

I do, and you don't. That's why you shouldn't have gambled on the housing market.
If you want my opinion on what prices (and values) will be like in 10 years time there is a thread I made in my posting history full of educational hints and tips.
Stop it !!!!!!, my sides are aching!0
