same thing my dear.
you gambled for your kids. gambling is gambling no matter who in your family you try to "help" with it.
no, what i asked you, and you did NOT answer me was "why did you not just SAVE them cash in a bank account every month, instead of getting a BTL??"
answer this, and it will be clear that it was greed.
greed in that you hoped it would apreciate in value or that over time the tenants rent would pay off the mortgage. doesnt matter if this greed was for you or your kids.
and just to note, i have nothing against greed. every humand by nature is greedy. well 99% of us.
what i dont like though, is after your bad gambling, you come here and expect sorrow. why should we fell bad for someone who took a gamble and didnt come out of it so well.
the honest truth is, you bought a BTL or two, and now, with house prices going down and interest rates going up your bet is a bad one.
it could have gone the other way, it didnt.
point being, its a gamble you took. why should anyone feel bad for you?
that is what i object too.
if you have a lot of equity in your own home, then you can perhaps try to remortgage your own home nad pay off the NR loan. that is your only hope.
but also ask yourself, is it a good idea to hold onto the house for the next, 1year, 3 years, 5 years, 10 years ect.
but i dont blame you fully, you took a look around you and every moron + his dog was making money on property and you wanted some of that pie.
problem for you is, any fool can make money in a rising market. but when it turns...
Cells
Read my posts. I do save hard cash into a bank account for them, in addition we wanted to give them a foothold on the property ladder as who knows what prices will be like in the next 8 - 10 years when my first will be going to uni.
We have just recently entered into a five year fixed on our property we cannot raise a mortgage against that to pay off other house, I had already asked. This was the first question I asked.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

Sticking to the subject would be a lot more helpful than anonymous abuse.
OP came for help. I think we can take it as read that a bad investment choice has been made.
So my post was abusive? I suggest you read some of the tripe cells has been spouting
All i'm saying is the OP does not need to be told in a million different ways where she has gone wrong -or to be solely blamed for the state of the housing market. What she needs is genuine advice on how to get out of the unenviable position she has got herself into.0 -

I do, and you don't. That's why you shouldn't have gambled on the housing market.
If you want my opinion on what prices (and values) will be like in 10 years time there is a thread I made in my posting history full of educational hints and tips.0 -

I have advised her to sell now, that is genuine advice on how to get out. Another poster also gave that advice so it's not just my opinion.
I have been careful not to personally insult the OP as I don't think anyone deserves bad things happening to them just for making a mistake (unless it involves direct harm to others). Despite cells being right about how bad a mistake it was he was wrong to behave how he did in this thread, I think he is a similar age to me so I can understand his frustrations but he shouldn't be taking it out on the OP obviously. There is a fine line between insulting and advising and I believe cells crossed it but don't let that downplay the seriousness of the matter and the points I made.0 -

As Cells is posting on there I imagine its him. So thanks for that Cells if I didn't already feel bad enough now I am devastated at the narrow minded nasty people on that board and this. I have posted on here for a number of years and tried to offer help where I can. I have never been subjected to such abuse from both this board and houseprice crash. I work in Collections and everyday I listen to people who have the worst problems in the world a lot are genuine and I seriously grieve for them and try to help where possible.
Even so I know that as bad as my problems are there are people far worse off than me. Congratulations Cells, you have won, I will now go to bed in tears because I have had no one to talk to about this. I have been putting on a bright face for my dh as he needs to pass this course for his job, which is why I don't want to tell him until he comes home having completed the course.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

You gambled and failed simple as that...house prices only ever go up... and down...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
