Spreadsheet or software to calculate hours worked?

Hi everyone,

I am having a few problems at work with a boss who is being funny about my hours - Has anyone got a spreadsheet or link to any software or site, where I can get a calculator that will add up my hours worked from the start and finish time, taking off my lunchtime each day?

if you have I would really appreciate it,

    A couple of things really - I want to make sure it's bob on, it would be quicker to enter it into a spreadsheet and have it do the work for me and it will look better, more professional and be easier to read that my scrawl!

    If you use 4 columns - (Start, Lunch, Back, Home) then use the formula
    =(B2-A2)+(D2-C2) in the 5th column, should work out the daily hours (assumes you've put headings in row 1, first times entry in row 2 - then just copy the E2 cell down as many days as you need (or if you want to be posh, use column A for the date, entries in B..E and formula in F as (C2-B2)+(E2-D2)

    If you put a line of times in before the formula, excel should format the cell correctly

    [EDIT] ps - you need to enter the times as hh:mm, eg 09:00,12:00, 13:00, 17:00

    Pen and paper method, I could find my old employers time sheet, travel/holidays/other time, did the lot and cross checked the totals to. If I find it I could email it to you.

    You'll probably find that it will give it a custom format including year month and day as well as the hours and minutes! You should see another option under custom format to give just hours and minutes!

    Hi everyone, many thanks for the tips on this. I have successfully set up the spreadsheet to calculate the daily hours worked, but now need to ask it to calculate the total hours per week, then the amount of hours in excess of 37 (if it's not too difficult!)..

    If, for example, the hours worked for each day are in cells E2 to E6, if you enter SUM(E2:E6) in E7, it will give you the total for the week. Entering "E7-37" in E8 will give you the excess (or shortfall) for the week.

    Once you've set up a table for one week, if you select it all (by dragging the mouse over it) you can then copy it and paste it - either below the first one or to a separate sheet in the workbook. Then just delete the times you entered and it's all set up for the next week.

    I manage to work out my total hours, total breaks, total working time and total periods of availability as well as the amount I've driven in km on a daily basis and that's after a 10-15hr shift starting or finishing in the wee hours when the last thing you are is fully corpus mentus.

    And I'm a lorry driver. So what you're saying is you're thicker than a lorry driver?
    I only ask because if you can't work out something as simple as the hours you've worked and can't get it right without the use of a computer, you must be.
