How long to charge battery for the first time
I got a new phone today and Im desparate to use it although I got told to charge it for 8 hrs.
However, I was messing with it and turned it on twice before I even charged it but I quickly switched the phone off.....will this affect the battery life seriously....
and I dont get the fact when I did swtich in on the battery life bar was pretty full so is there a need to charge for 8 hrs?
So far I've charged it for 2hrs and it says fully charged...but I'll keep it going until about 9.30 but will it be worth it because its says fuly charged now?
And whats everyones experience?

i charge my sony ericssons until they say battery full. it hasnt made any noticeable difference to the battery life0

I was told the very first charge should be 16 hours, as it fully warms the battery up, as the battery's been stored in a warehouse for a while, so this is what I do.0

hi, years ago i was told 16 hrs and was in the manual. when i got one last year wa told that technology has come on and no need to wait, just fully charge and go. i have just got new one yesterday and i just charged until full. nothing in manual and was given no special instructions.A happy wife, and mum to 2 lovely little boys :j0

I left mine on charge for about 12 hours when I got it, I don't think it makes much difference as long as it's fully charged the first time. Don't think it matters if you have the phone switched on, so don't worry

Batteries these days are VERY tough, but you will prolong the useful life if you can TOTALLY let it run down, (leave it on a one player game say) just once in a while.
If you have had your phone batteries life 'shorten' between charges, then 9 times out of 10 its because it has been charged when not run down totally. Not the battery wearing out
All batteries do suffer from the 'memory' effect,ok with lithium ones it's minimal, but it does build up over time.
Hope that helps both new and older users!never put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0 -
I put my phone on charge and play with it while I charge it. xD
THe way I figure it, my phone is charged every night anyway so even if it did damage the battery, I don't consider it detrimental enough to affect my day-to-day use. On my latest sony ericsson it lasts over 3 days on one charge anyway.0
