Back on worcester sauce - I found some in Asda, never seen it there before but it was next to the Lea and Perrins. Posted more details on another thread on this board couple of weeks ago.0

I have used Tamari sauce instead of worcester sauce its much stronger so use sparingly. The best work is the cheapest as the quality remains long after the price is forgotten0

where do you get tamari sauce from?0
-
In health food shops or japanese shops. It is a very concentrate form of soy sauce and very nice indeed! But as suggested, use sparingly, very very salty!

Hi everyone, I make a veggie fried rice. I put a little bit of olive oil in a wok, then cut up whatever veg is in the fridge i.e onion, pepper, celery, carrot (great for using up a few bits of veg - that stick of celery or one mushroom or carrot). Chuck it in the hot wok, whizz it round until cooked then add the cooked rice, I use brown rice. Add soya sauce or similar. If you eat eggs you can make a thin omelette cut it into strips and add. Tastes great! Can always add any frozen veg instead or as well as...... enjoy!0

Mexican Rice - Yummy recipe!
Serves 8!
1 large onion - quarted
400g tin of chopped toms
2 garlic cloves
3tbsp olive oil
450g long grain white rice (brown could be ok)
900ml vegetable stock
100g frozen peas - thawed
seasoning
chopped fresh coriander to garnish
Puree - onion, toms and garlic until almost smooth
Heat oil in large heavy based pan, add rice and cook for a few minutes, stirring until thoroughly coated in oil.
Add the puree and cook for a few mins more.
Pour in the hot stock, add seasoning. Bring to boil, cover and simmer very gently for 15-20 mins or until almost half the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is almost tender.
!!!!!! the peas, cover and cook for 5 mins or until liquid is completely absorbed and peas are tender, garnish and serve.Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts.
