Cutting out the early morning sun with blinds..

Im looking to get a pair of 2nd hand curtains to use for my living room the window is a large bay window though.
Dont suppose you fancy giving them away or selling for a price? We are currently decorating our bedroom and will be replacing the thick curtains we have hanging there.. I would like to replace them with the wooden venetian blinds but am not sure how well they would block out the early morning sun. The room is East facing and at present as soon as the sun rises (5am at the moment) its shines directly in the windows.. I am a light sleeper and it still sometimes wakes me even with the thicker curtains. So does anyone have these blinds in a bedroom and do they cut out the sunlight or am I just gonna have to buy new thick curtains.. I'd certainly prefer not..
A relative said that if the sun shines directly through her blinds the sun shines through the gaps.. I just wonder if maybe she hadn't closed them fully...If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
To be honest the curtains are really tatty as I washed them last year before I realised they were dry clean only and they creased terribly and the creases wouldn't come out.. so I don't think they would be any good to you... sorry... if they had been useable you would of been welcome...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

We have 2 windows in our bedrrom, both with wooden ventians and they do let in the light.
I hope to replace them with backout rollers or roman blinds when we come to decorate.
I really hate cleaning them too.;)0 -
Just thought I would update. We did buy the wooden blinds and they look great.. we made sure they were wide enough to fit well over the window frames and they are actually not too bad for letting in the light.. one thing I did find was if you close them down the way they are supposed to be closed which is with the front of each strip lower than the back the light streams through the gaps but if you do it the other way (doesn't look fantastic but at night who sees them anyway) with the front of each strip up and the back down they cut out the light much better... I was hoping that I could just hoover them with a brush fitting to keep them dust free...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j
