In B&Q (Blackburn) today and picked up this great deal.
Torch is as detailed below and is the MK2 version they are selling at the "special" price of £116.00.
http://www.thetorchshop.co.uk/rechargeable.html
There was another 10% off this weekend so I got it slightly cheaper, but for £30.00 this is a quality piece of kit.
Hope it's of interest.
Cheers

This offer was doing the rounds a couple of weeks back but I thought all the stock was exhausted everywhere...guess I was wrong....a good buy...wonder if there are any more around?0

Hi plob,
There were three left next to some generators. Enter the store, walk past the tills, the cafe, second bay on left.
Good luck!

I spotted these in b&q weeks ago at a higher price (£70 i think) and was waiting for them to go lower (most b&q customers, myself included don't want to pay £70 for a torch). I popped in a week later and they had gone - when I asked I was told they had probably been returned to the manufacturer!0

it says this torch is only 40,000 candle power..... argos sell 5 MILLION candle power torches for £30..... i dont understand how this could be a good buy...(in terms of performance)... can sum1 explain!!!??
thanks0 -
Maglite torches are practically indestructable - fantastic quality - I've never had one break. Argos makes most of their stuff out of disposable plastic don't they? hehe
Plus Maglite are THE name to have if you are bothered by being fashionable at allNot that I am...but it is always nice to give "a name" for a present.

well the 5 million candel power torch is cheap and nasty and will probably last 2 mins before it go's flat and why would you want to illuminate something 3 miles away, maglite very well built very robust tend to be water proof (not sure if it includes the rechargable model) and as its rechargable its even better than a standard maglite, 40,000 candella its plety enough for normal use.

Hi guys,
Agree with comments regarding quality. Have used standard Maglites for over ten years, used regularly and they still look like new. They were standard issue for American police because of their robustness and focussing beam.
£30.00 may still seem expensive if you just want a torch to throw in a drawer for bonfire night... These are real workhorses, made out of aircraft grade machined aluminium, in all probability over engineered for the job.
Don't know what price B&Q originally were selling them for but last price was £70.00.
Cheers

If anyone is after something a bit cheaper, Superdrug are selling rechargable 1,000,000 candle power spotlight / torches for £4.
I got one and it is amazingly powerful. When I shine it up in the sky its like the Bat sign off Batman!
Seem pretty solid too, not like the plasticky versions you can get!

Maglites are overpriced fashion statements. £30 is just about acceptable for what you get; the original price is laughable.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0
