    Thanks!

The kitchen stinks lol! I'm making Curry Queens dansak, does anyone know if 275mls of the curry sauce is about a teacup amount?

    Sorry about this guys! :o
A bit more than that - maybe a coffee mug to within about an inch (2.5cm) from the top. Hang on I'll go check... :)

    Thanks again!
I feel like you're all holding my hand through my scary cooking adventure! lol :D

5 minutes until the onions are done then I'll blend them - any more tips I need?

Yeah, just relax and enjoy it :D

Unless you're baking cakes or something, which need to be weighed out and recipes followed to a tee, then you can improvise and experiment whilst cooking although if you're anything like me then you'll stick to a recipe the first time you ever make it and then change it to suit once you know what you're doing ;)

  • I always use a whole tin. If I haven't got a tin of chopped ones handy I use cheapo Lidl's or Aldi's and mash them up a bit. They will cook down so there's no real need to get the processor dirty unless you've already used it for chopping the onions in which case you could give them a very quick whizz.

This particular recipe really does need to have the tomatoes and everything blended properly as it will affect the quality of the sauce. A lot of work has gone into perfecting it and although there is room for improvisation in making the actual curries, it's vital to get the base sauce right to start with :)

Well thank you all very much especially Curry queen! That was one delicious curry, though I did have several disasters and I'm now a huge plastic salad bowl down -I put it on the ring then switched the wrong ring on - onion puree started leaking over the cooker I realised what was happening, hauled the bowl off the ring and poured the onion puree into the nearest dish which was a clean washing up bowl :D , it was only a nightmare cos of the sheer quantity of curry base!
    But it was gorgeous!
    Thanks so much!
    :)

  • Well done you! :T and I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Sorry to hear of your little disaster though! we've all done silly things like that at some point though ;) I could probably write a book on some of my kitchen disasters over the years :rotfl:
