I have not been on a Pontins holiday before, but I have been to a Haven one which was more or less the same thing. When we arrived, we started unpacking, but it turned very cold and the heating didnt work. Our party had 5 children in it, one only a very young baby, so I went and asked at reception whether anything could be done. They moved us to another van. This one was filthy, mould all over the place, stains on mattresses, place hadnt seen a hoover since god knows when. I went back and complained and they bought out a manager. The manager said they couldn't help and disappeared off to the entertainments dept. I followed her and stated it really wasn't acceptable. The manager kind of rolled her eyes and told me if it was really important to wait. So I did. She kept me waiting 3/4 hour, but must have realised I wasn't going to back down, so she upgraded us FOC to a silver caravan.... which was lovely. All in all, the experience was a lesson ;) but absolutely fantastic, and was a Sun £9.50 one too! Unfortunately, couldnt manage even that this year and have missed out on the Pontins ones too, :( but would like to wish all a great time!!! Don't be put off by the negatives!!!

how skint are all u MSE's????

i know its nice to go away for a break and not have to pay a single penny,..but if you go onto www.pontins.co.uk website its not really expensive,..i paid £45 and yes some lucky ones got it free, but the dates i am going to hemsby on the 7th july for 4 night, would only cost £64.50 direct from pontins own website!!!!...not really going to break the bank if you are really desperate to take the kids away!!

they have availablity too, when you select the dates to begin it says £70, tehn when you proceed to book it gives a online discount charging only £64.50,..so all those people who are desperate to go away i would say thats still very very cheap!!

I dont think its about being skint its more the fact theres an opportunity of a free holiday. I personally couldnt afford to pay out a big large bulk payment for a holiday to me £65 is alot of money its more than my weekly shop, and with bills to pay etc its pay a bill or have a holiday and my bills have to come first. I think your being a lil harsh, i paid £40 for my break to prestatyn but that was because i cant take my son out of school during term time, that still is abit of money to me but it was cheaper than what i was quoted the same morning which was £130. What is cheap to you might not be cheap to the person next to you.

i wonder if it was the same guy who helped me out.......he was very kind to me

There are some lovely people out there...aren't there

Hope its good....a previous poster has concerned me...im about to have a look at the reviews......ohhhh

Dont worry, its a cheap n cheerful break, i usually go haven at weymouth bay most years and pay £600 odd for 7 nights in august so this is a brill way to save a bit and and have a lil break as we are saving so planned just a lil trip to isle of wight this year.
These breaks are what u make them, i plan ahead for days out etc and we barley spend much time in accomaation as we keep busy xxx if u go with a smile youll be fine xxxx

I know some people did pay a small amount and are travelling far but if you get there and its not clean just tell someone, i have a 2 year old and i will be 8 months pregnant too...if i didnt think it would be clean believe me i wouldnt go!!

Yes pontins is basic but ive never been and found it dirty.....if people really are that worried there are literally LOADS of people queing to get one of these holidays so just pass it on.

Anyone that does decide to go, maybe we`ll see you at the bar?! mine will be a lemonade!!!

sorry i never meant to cause any offense in my previous post, i agree i expect it to be clean too regardless of whether it was free or cheap or expensive,...im trying to settle my thoughts by hoping that pontins have known about the bad reviews and have undergone an extensive refurb and this is there promotion to show us all how they have improved, in a bid to win back the the great british public!!......well here's hoping!!
