Clutton are you sure combi boilers are no longer allowed? I didn't realise this. I thought they now had to be condensing but combis are OK? Canucklehead? You can get condensing combis can't you?
Are you also sure you need to be NICEIC? I thought there were now several approved bodies. Don't you just need a Part P?

Good evening: Since April 2005, all new gas boilers in England and Wales (with very limited exceptions) must be condensing i.e condensing regular, condensing system or condensing combination boiler and notified to Bulding Control... your CORGI can self-certify the installation via CORGI ...see more on the installation and specification of gas central heating here .

Well put it this way, the FMB generally exists to protect the interests of its members.
I would agree that JCT is the way to go if possible.
Good evening: Nutmegman said he would review the FMB sample contract and report back. The OP asked if anyone had examples of general building contracts and I provided one. I've no connection with the FMB. I asked Nutmegman if he could highlight the differences between the two sample contracts: when someone gives advice on MSE it is always helpful if links to relevant resources are provided so the OP can do further research. Once Nutmegman posts his comments we will have a better understanding of the issues at hand;)
Knowledge is power.

You can have a boiler that is combi and condensing, though. We've got one!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

That's sort of what I was trying to say really. That combis aren't disallowed purely because they're combis.0 -
Nutmegman, I do have a specification but am unable to post it

Nitmegman, i now have purchased copy of JCT. It says the contract is appropriate 'where an architect/contract administrator is to administer the conditions'.
We have neither so don't see how this an be suitable for us, grateful for any advice/comments please.
I have also looked at the FMB contract and cannot see any parts that are unfair or unreasonable or bias towards the contractor. If anyone else can or has previous experience of this i would be very grateful if they would let me know.
Thanks again.
