Ebaying on behalf of someone

But you do appear to be contradicting yourself.
I agree the options are limited regarding employment when there is a young baby to be cared for, but the employment opportunities do exist. e.g. you could work from home.
Some types of work that may be suitable for you.
1. Addressing and/or Stuffing envelopes
2. Data entry - ok, may be difficult to find this one but I know someone doing this from home for a company
3. Typing - you seem quite competent at that
4. Basic book-keeping - if you think you have these skills to successfully run a business yourself, offer to sell them to someone else.
5. Get paid to work for your brothers profitable company!
So you are aware of what work I have looked into, that I am able to do, that is currently availible? I am a proactive person who has considered many options that I am able to do and have found there is currently no availibility.I'm not so sure working for a your brother's company just 1 hour per week will be suitable to ensure it remains profitable. Many eBay customers are not happy to wait up to 7 days after payment is received before items are dispatched which could seriously begin to affect the feedback, and so potential profit.
I am happy to say that as it is SIX products, that will simply need relisting, that along with simply printing labels and popping in a jiffy will fit within an hour due to the simplicity. Postage can be done daily as I live close to a post office and can be done whilst my child is awake on the way back from voluntering/playgroups and that it will not affect the care given to him.If you really do think you could contain this work within 1 hour per week, that would leave lots of hours you could do paid work for others.
It will not leave lots of hours that I can do paid work for others. Being a mother to a baby is a full time job. During the day whilst he naps briefly I have a household to keep running. Whilst he sleeps after I do any other needed household duties then feed myself I have about an hour left. Whilst it is fine to spend say twenty minutes on ebay, I do not see that I should have NO TIME whatsoever for myself. Most of my evenings are spent still 'working' within the household and during that time I check my mail, have a quick surf etc inbetween jobs. Do you seriously think I should have no time for ME? I think that if I had no time for myself to relax that I would not be the same mother I am to my child and I will not risk that. You say 1 hours paid employment "would hardly pay for a thing", but this is not about you gaining extra income, but about reducing your dependancy on benefits that the rest of us tax payers are payiing for.
Indeed, you would only need to secure 2 hours paid work at the NMW before reducing your dependency on those benefits.
If I did 2 hrs work a week at the NMW of £5.52 which works out £11.04 a week, I would pay no tax whatsoever. It would not affect any benefit. I would get to keep the £11.04 myself as they allow £20 per week to be recieved in payment for any favours or monetary gifts given. So even if I could manage to find 2 hrs work and then manage to fit it in on a regulars basis, making sure that my son is not teething and up all night, that I am not too knackered at the end of a long WORKING day it would not reduce my 'dependancy', just give me a further £11.04 to spend!Or better still, as you will be essentially running your brother's company and creating a considerable profit, why not negotiate payment significantly higher than the NMW that reflects the profits being generated by your vital involvement.
I only plan to do it for him for 3-4 months max as there will be little or no call for these six items after that time at this price. There will be no considerable profit, which is fine as it relates nicely to the little time and effort required.Or even better,
6. set up and run the business yourself and declare the actual profits.... oh yeah, I nearly forgot, because that would involve you giving up some of those benefits you currently claim that the rest of us hardwoking taxpayers are paying for.
You seem to think I am some sort of leech. I find alot of your comments are completely unfounded and often rather on the presumptious and rude side. You presume that I have made no effort whatsoever to seek seek employment that is manageable in my situation and that I am trying to smokescreen earnings. Those are unfounded presumptions and to be honest I am finding your postings offensive and confrontational.0 -

Simple mistype of monetary amount, not a contraction of any plans or showing there is therefore this smokescreen you talk of!

So perhaps the perfect stop-gap paid job for you.
Makes no difference if I do not get paid for that hours work as it would not affect any benefits anyway! Same as the voluntary work I am able to take my son along to!Quote:

So what is it, a profitable business or selling goods at a loss? If there is not going to be any profit, why bother?
It would not be at a loss, but these are low priced items that have a short shelf life, therefore no major profits, but none the less, still worth a bit of listing time due to the simplicity of pressing the 'relist' button and popping in a jiffy!Quote:

No you won't get into trouble if you are not making a profit. But I'm not sure why you find it offensive that when I suggest you could find yourself in trouble for earning a profit and not declaring that profit to the benefit agencies. As I said, a profit is a profit whether or not you subsequently decide to give it away, or indeed use another smokescreen to try and disguise such profit.
I will not make any profiit, my brother will. Not giving any profit away as it is not my stock etc! No smokescreen, how many times do I have to say this for it to sink in?If you don't like what I post, perhaps it's time to put that shovel down

Hang on a mo... Is this the Inquisition board here or what? cos I must have missed a thread!
Let's take stock and move on to another day, take a breather and don't cross boundaries. Ok?
I know I'm sticking my neck out but come on there's no need for this so let's diffuse it and move on!
Nite and sleep well all.:T:money:has saved me a small fortune! Thank you.0 -
Feels like an inquisition!
What annoys me is the presumtions...
I got told I was eligible for DLA and all associated benefits by my specialist 6 years ago. However as I am not work shy I chose to work for those years as yes I was in pain, but I have good work ethics and was determined to not let any disability affect me.
I could choose not return to work after my son stops feeding and could remain on all benefits(more than I get now) for the REST OF MY LIFE, sitting on my butt all day. I however choose to move forward and struggle at work for the rest of my working life, knowing that I am not only going to feel better about myself, but that I will show my son that just because your entitled to something does not mean you have to claim it.
So your presumtions about me are WRONG premier0 -
