thanks for advice about debt bein statute barred i had no idea this existed. i have written letter to this company asking for proof of agreement and dates of any payments made but have not acknowledged the debt as mine or signed the letter is this ok?waddy - from this:eek: to this :j (hopefully????)0

i am not the expert but if the debt is 6 years old and you made no payments towards it and you didn't accept the debt in writing, then it is statute barred. There is a template letter on this forum to send it to the creditors where you pay £1 for the proof of debt i think.I will try to find it for you.0

thankyou so much for your help. the company say they have a letter from me asking for a reduced repayment plan not long after it was taken out but i dont remember. so if this is correct but 6 years have still elapsed since with no payments , is this statute still valid?? sorry to be a pain but its so nice to get help and advice without someone else wanting money out of you!waddy - from this:eek: to this :j (hopefully????)0

That's what the company says, maybe it is just a scare tactic as they know they can not get any money out of you lawfully.as long as you didn't acknowledge the debt within 6 years you should be fine.0

hi everyone again. have taken ur advice and altered sky package much to dismay of two kids! made conscious effort to reduce food bills, i went to discount stores for a lot of stuff and couldnt believe difference in cost. did cccs dmp thingy and they suggested a low start dmp paying £83 a month at first this wud take 11 years to pay off the debt!!! in the meantime i am considering it but as i have fixed rate mortgage that runs out next year will i have trouble changing lenders if im in a dmp?waddy - from this:eek: to this :j (hopefully????)0

Hi...
Sounds like you've made some inroads...If you have a look at some of the posts on the DMP Support thread some of the posters on there have managed to get mortgages after their deal has finished. Think "Rayday" has been successful in sorting a new mortgage, and you could always post that question on that thread and be sure of some good advice & support.
Good luck!!LHS No 2220 -
