I would meet him, me and OH met on the internet and have been together 7 yrs now

Why not meet up for a day out, Alton Towers, Wildlife Centre etc? and then if you hit it off great and if not then you can go home without any pressure..

I agree. Def go for it!QUIDCO £2827 paid out since October 2007:D0 -
Go for it. I'm a great believer in fate, and what is meant to be. At least you will get an answer one way or the other. I guess at the moment your head is going round and round in circles, which will eventually drive you insane!0

Have you told your friend how you feel about him or vice versa?
The reason I ask is, if he kinda feels the same about you .......maybe hes hoping you'll both click in RL and maybe he'll have someone to come home to next year? Or am I just an old romantic?
I met my partner online and we also chatted via phone and MSN for many months before taking the plunge and meeting face to face.
I had fallen for him aswell but I had seen pictures of him before we met, so no surprises there. I nearly didn't turn up because I was so worried he wouldn't like me or vice versa. (he later confessed to feeling the same)
We've been together 3 and 1/2 wonderful years and have a beautiful son. Go for it OP. The worst that'll happen is you won't fancy each other but you'll have a great night out with a friend.
The best case scenario.........you might be having a long distance romance for the next 12 months. At least you'll know either way.
Good luck and i'm sure we'll all have our fingers crossed for you xxHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
I would say go for it (although i am biased also), but as others have said be careful and make sure it is in a public place.
I think cazziebo has hit the nail on the head really!!
Dont forget to tell us what you decide.

Carpe diem, life's too short not to go.I think it p!sses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.0

If you do meet, then as well as informing a trusted friend, arrange for a 'phone call after say half an hour. By then you will know how safe you feel and you can always use the call as an 'emergency' escape.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0

What would be the point if he is going away for a year?0

I have met a few girls off the net, only one turned out to be a psycho, the warning signs were there though.
For me though, it's easier as a guy since I am fairly tall and am quite a fast runner!
I met them all in pubic places, only one girl wanted me to come to her house "for tea" at which point I declined!
imo you have nothing to lose as long as you do it in a public place, my favourite place is the Trafford Centre btw. Little tip for you northerners there.

For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
if you dont you will only regret it for years to come,
if you like him why not give him something, something that he can keep but has ur addresse on so when he comes back if he really likes you too he can come and find you!0
