Female Dog Wee

Is there a way you can persuade a female dog to "go" in one spot? Not particularly bothered about poo as it is just picked up and put in bin, but her wee is making lots of lovely yellow patches on bf's lovely grass which is rather proud of.:rotfl:

We probably should have done something about it before now. She is almost 1 1/2 years and we have had her since 7 weeks.

Hahaha :rotfl: That's an awfully helpful answer. We already take her out three times a day, but I'm not going to stop her going out in the back garden for a wander or a wee if she feels like it.

You can successfully clicker train her to go in one place. Obviously you need to start clicker training first, priming the clicker etc etc, but then you would use the same theory to get your girl to wee in one place, clicking the nearer to the spot, and witholding the click if she goes further away. You can use a marker like woodchip or sand to help.

Hi there, you can put a dash of tomato sauce in her dinner each night and it neutralises the urine and stops the yellow markings. Or the other alternative is a dash of vinegar in her water bowl. Dont fancy that one much!!! I gave my dog a small dash of sauce in her dinner every night and it stopped the yellow markings. She wouldn't eat her dinner without it!! If i forgot she would sit and stare at the cupboard i keep the sauce in!!

Wow! That is wicked! And it really works?

Do you just mean ketchup? Think I might give that a go. We have a teenager in the house, so there is always ketchup around!

Yes just ordinary tomato ketchup. I gave my dog about a teaspoon in her dinner each night and it really works. It takes about a week or so to kick in but it will work. My vet told me to try it he said it wont do any harm - and she enjoyed it which helped!! Good luck with it.

2 of my dogs are female. All the dogs have pilchards in tomato sauce as part of their diet and we don't get yellow patches on the lawn. Weeds, moss and daises by the acre, but no yellow patches. :rolleyes:

Im going to try this too. My dog is 13 years old and I have bald patches everywhere. In fact there is hardly any grass left. Will have to watch it doesn't give her a bad tummy being old though.

I think she would enjoy pilchards in tomatoe sauce, There not that expensive are they.

Between about 35p and 45p for a 450g can. There are about 5 big pilchards in there which I share between the three of them, mushed into their dry dog food. I wash the can round with warm water and splash that over the top as a 'gravy'. They all wolf it down. :drool:
