My OH got turned down for the Capital One card, so on the advice of someone on this board we checked his Experian file and discovered that his bankruptcy was still showing on his file - he was discharged in April......that would explain things!0

That would definitely explain things!
Does he have proom of his dis-charge? if he does, he nneds to call the CRA's and arrange to send them the proof!
Once they receive it, it will take a while but they will rectify the mistake and he can start applying for cards again.
Would start with Capital One and see how it goes. If you get no luck with them, try Vanquis, they are not as bad as everyone would like to think
Good luck, keep us informed please.

I'm getting him to speak to the OR tomorrow to get some sort of documentation. The credit report also shows old credit card debt that should have been wiped out by the bankruptcy - they have a code of '8' - should these still be on there??????
thanks for your help)

Hi,
Sorry to jump on this thread, but Lottie, I've been having the same trouble with getting both Equifax & Experian to update their details!
I was also under the impression that the Defaults and CCJs should be marked as either 'settled' or 'satisfied' once the Bankruptcy had gone thro'.
However, the debts that I had the CCJS / Defaults for, were all included in the B'ruptcy but are still showing as 'outstanding' on my files
Surely if they were all essentially 'written off' due to my B'ruptcy, then the CRAs should reflect this??
I contacted the Northampton County Court Bulk Clearing Centre (who issue the CCJs) and they emailed back saying that the CCJs are *NOT* wiped just because youve gone Bankrupt since..they still show as outstanding unless you can get hold of a letter from the claimants solicitor showing theyve actually been paid..is this correct guys?!
So this means you have to wait 6 years from the date of CCJ / Default entry for them to drop off??! Ridiculous!
Im sure I read somewhere that everything prior to going 'B' was shown as settled once youre discharged, in order for you to move on!
Anyway, sorry to witter on.
Any help re this would be most helpful,
Many Thanks,
Jack :beer:0 -
