No need to be narky about it. Forums wouldn't work if people didn't have differing opinions. Just remember that each opinion is a valid one, just because the point of view differs from your own, doesn't make it right or wrong.

Fine, but you did say there was "naff all" relevance to the 1570 credit crunch theory I presented, where I was minded otherwise. A dismissive "naff all" reply might be seen as narky in itself, but doesn't phase me. :A

My narkiness ("narky" = a username I use on a different forum) shouldn't be interpreted as personal insult, but just the strong and lively exchange in the conflict of differing views - which as you imply, is an ingredient for an internet forum to work optimally.

    Some extracts ...

Persimmon, Britain's biggest housebuilder, said last month it would stop building on 30 new sites ...

The group is a stock market horror story. Its shares, changing hands at more than £14 a year ago, have plunged 61 per cent in the past 12 months and 7.75 per cent in the past week alone. They closed yesterday at 555.5p.

The picture from Barratt is no better. Its shares, 1,122p a year ago, are down 78 per cent over 12 months and 8.9 per cent in the past week to just 248.25p.

Bovis revealed it had sold only 120 houses since unveiling full-year results in early March

Persimmon's chief executive, Mike Farley, has warned that the industry overall may build only 110,000 homes this year. That's 33 per cent down on 2007, and 55 per cent short of the government's target of 247,000.

    It's tough out there ...

and my 2p - it's going to get even tougher.

If you had bought at the peak just before the last crash your house would still be worth loads more today than it was then, so If you by at the peak of this crash, in time your house will still be worth that it is now. Unless somebody can show me a peak before a crash that is lower than a peak before a previous crash ?

I honestly don't care if house prices fall by 50% because I'm in for the long term, plus you have to live somewhere.

Your argument doesn't make financial sense at all. Yes you can buy at the peak, watch it fall and in 10 years watch it reach the previous price and go up past it. BUT why don't you wait get a significantly better house and by the 10 year mark have a better quality of life.

:exclamatiI see this mentality in self harmers at work, it just isn't logical.

I don't recall saying your argument had "naff all" relevance?

    Ok... phil_b did then.

Why don't you have a go at him? Maybe because his outlook is more in-tune with your own?

I'm happy being narky but know where to draw the line. Thanks.

    Treadmill is right you fools!

Yup, buy now and my home will be worth loads more in 18 years time anyway! Whoopee! Would have to abandon the prospect of having kids, saving for a pension or having a decent disposable income though. Why should it matter! My house will be worth loads! Won't see a penny mind you, as I'll need somewhere to live. But again, what the heck. IT'LL BE WORTH LOADS!!!

    Very irresponsible article indeed IMHO.

If this makes just one person buy near the top of the cycle then this rubbish reporting has done its damage.

The Express has lost all its credibility (if it had any left at all), I mean quoting Stuart Law only confirms the papers stench of VI.
