Evans Halshaw Ford Dealership Rant
Options
Basically had my car in for repair under warranty at a Ford Evans Halshaw dealership. Car was with them in total for 4 days waiting for parts etc .Repair done and seems to be fine but upon inspection (2 days later )I noticed some plastic trim had been broken in the engine bay.
I contacted them last Friday they wanted me to make another trip for them to inspect the damage. I said it wasn't convenient to make a trip just to say yes its broke but we need to order the part .So I suggested they speak to the mechanic ,order the part and I will come down when the part arrives. He replied I 'll find the job sheet and get back to you.
Monday afternoon still not heard from them so I decided to give them a ring and find out what was going on. Spoke to someone else and she put me on hold then came on the phone to say It was noticed the trim was damaged when the car came in.She quickly got me off the phone and said the the service manager, the guy who I spoke to originally will phone you back today hes just on the phone to another customer and I fell for it!
Still waiting !!!!
I also have doubts about a service I had on the car one week prior.
Supposed to check the brakes and renew the brake fluid .
I forgot to give them the locking wheel nut key ,it was hid in the car so I doubt it was carried out. Oh they did top the brake fluid upto the brim way past the max line causing it to spill over
If anyone knows how you can test if they changed the brake fluid then please tell I would love to nail them.
Conclusion:
I never met any garage like it .Supposed be a dealership not a dodgy back street garage. The trim itself probably cost no more than £15 .Its not the cost but the principle of being treated like I am trying on and being fobbed off. I know the trim has been definatley broken whilst in thier workshop but cant obviously proove it. You would think after spending £160 for a service a week before they would show some willinigness and some basic decent service.
Calls not returned.
Damaged done to car.
Also service work suspected not carried out fully.
Any advice apreciated

evans halshaw are not doing ford any favours as far as im aware, ive heard a lot of complaints about my local evans halshaw,it used to be a reg vardy but then changed to evans, never had problems with reg vardy, but endless complaints with evans.
anyway, take your car to another garage best to take it to a local independant and ask them to test the brake fluid,it can be tested for water content as brake fluid is hygroscopic its absorbs moisture, this is why it should be changed....work permit granted!0 -
EH sales technique leaves a lot to be desired so I doubt their service department is any better. Their parts department in our local one can't even get their staff to turn up on a Saturday!
I've had the hard sell from them after taking a car out for the afternoon, just give me your card details and we'll just hold a car for you.
I'd ask to see their job sheet, you probably think your locking wheelnut key is hidden but to them everyone has it there!0 -

You may be right about the locking wheelnut key I may be jumping to conclusions. But thier manner how they handled the situation is total unprofessional ,couldn't give a sh*t attitude. I should have known as soon as I saw the brake fluid reservoir filled to the brim not to take the car back again!
I only hope my rant persuades people not to go near Evans Halshaws in the future.0 -
cant you contact ford and explain what poor service you recieved...they might step in and make things right0
-
and how many people do you think claim they damaged cars?
I bet hundreds, its not unreasonable to want to see the car before incurring cost0 -

"Old" brake fluid is quite straw coloured, new fluid is almost clear. To get it tested, you would probably have to pay for it.
I would put your complaint in writing to the dealer - send it recorded delivery. Copy it to Ford and to the SMMT
(http://www.smmt.co.uk/home.cfm)0 -
you could have a poke around underneath and see if theres any fresh marks near the brake nipples, theyd have to use a spanner on each one and chances are split a bit of fluid that should've wiped up so you may see evidence of this
but they'l never admit to it
its garages that pay bonus that cause bodge jobs...say the book time is 4 hrs and the mech does it in 2 hrs he gets extra pay , so they encourage them to cut every corner they can0 -
I am also having problems with Evans Halshaw, I have put details on my own thread today "problems with car dealership service department", they have tried to charge me over £1,800 for a job which has just cost less than £100 through my local garage. My car went into the dealership with diesel in and came out with unleaded in (it's a diesel) they had it almost a week, they said when they test drove it on Thursday there was diesel in the engine, then on Monday they said there was petrol in!!!
We have voice recordings of the rubbish they have told us, we are going to take legal action, would like to know how if you made a complaint and if so how you got on, I guess badly, last time my car was in this group of garages, they left the keys in it and someone stole it, if I had known they were connected I would have never taken my car there in the first place!!!0 -
You can change brake fluid without taking off the wheels if you're using a two post ramp.0
-
The best way to check the brake fluid is to take off a wheel (a rear wheel is best) and bleed some fluid from the bleed nipple. You should be able to find out how to do this on the internet its fairly easy.
If it looks dirty then it hasn't been changed0
