I'm surprised that people continue to use dealerships....... There are far more complaints on these forums about dealerships than there are about "Fred's garage under the arches".

Complaining about a dealership attracts attention though - if I complained to you about the independent garage X hundred miles from you that !!!!!!ed a car of mine nicely through sheer incompetence (true story) you'd not have a clue who they were.

Hi, does the invoice actually list that a brake fluid change has been done. The reason I ask is that main dealer service prices have increased and £160 would seem to be about right for a basic service with 'visual inspection' of the brakes. A major sevice would now be in the region of £220 to £240 which would include removing the wheels etc but still not include brake fluid change, which is advised to be changed once every two years and is usually an additional charge. I have never had my brake fluid changed in 40 years of driving and never encountered any problems. Dealerships are franchises of the car manufacturers and are obliged to 'advise' things such as brake fluid changes as part of the conditions of the franchise, whatever they might personally think. They are monitored by calls from 'mystery shoppers' who will report any non-compliance.

As that problem was posted in 2008, they may not have the invoice any more!

After 4 visits and a poor service, I feel extremely annoyed having being ripped off – when the very reason I took my car to Ford was to receive a premium service.

You get premiumly "serviced" by a clueless trainee mechanic with a laptop.

Dealerships are run my admin staff and sales people, not mechanics.... The non-technical staff think they can achieve the same results as a time served mechanic, by giving a 17 year old trainee a diagnostics machine.
When things go wrong, they honestly believe that the machine was still better than an experienced mechanic..... You simply cannot make these people see sense.

With respect to the window fault.... The key-fob has nothing at all to do with the windows.
Some vehicles allow the window operation to be controlled from the fob, BUT this does not affect the controls in the car.

In my opinion they made a f*ck up (forgot to reconnect something) and covered their backs by blaming the key-fob rather that look incompetent.

EH sales technique leaves a lot to be desired so I doubt their service department is any better. Their parts department in our local one can't even get their staff to turn up on a Saturday!

I've had the hard sell from them after taking a car out for the afternoon, just give me your card details and we'll just hold a car for you.

I'd ask to see their job sheet, you probably think your locking wheelnut key is hidden but to them everyone has it there!

I worked for Renault in their complaints back office for a while in 2008,EH had a reputation there of being hard to deal with, they rarely returned calls, dodged calls & other things I cannot go into.
  • I brought a second hand fiesta from evans a few years ago and when i went to pick up I was kept waiting for 2 hours as the guy who I made the appointment with had gone for lunch he came back but another sales person had the tax disk in his pocket and he had gone for lunch anyway finally got the car drove it home to find the interior light was not working so popped in on sat morning as advised by the service dept they then told me i wouldn't be seen as they had not senior technical in i stood firm and demanded i was seen and suddenly the supervisor turned up

a few months later i went to tax my car only to discover that it wasnt legal basicly evans had declared it off the road SORN and not bothered to tell the dvla they had sold it and put it back on the road so the tax disk they put on it was invalid the plenlty for me driving this car was £2500 fine and 3 points as i was informed by the DVLA 6 emails and treat of local press involvement they finally admitted it was there faulty and gave me a cheque for £250 and a free service i declined the service as i would take my car back to them in bits as i don't trust them

last month brought a second hand mariva from evans diffrent garage thought give them another chance so far they conned me out of £20 fuel and they still 4 weeks later haven't paid the remaining finance off on my old car so im getting late payments charges etc and damage to my credit file wonder if giving them a second chance was a good idea what do you think ??

i brought a transit van from the ldv dealers in wolverhampton , they put it through an mot but said although not a faliure it had excesive end play on the back axle ,so they phoned up evans halshaw who said the van had a recal on the back axle and to bring it in , 2 days later i went to pick up the van ,they give me the keys and off i went ,got to the bottom of the road and i had no brakes at all , luckily i missed all the cars parked their ,i went back to evans halshaw and told them what had happend ,and they flatly denied responsibillity for it ,saying it must of come in like that , i told them about the mot 2 days before but they wasnt having it , i said you could of warned me about the brakes not working which they said they didnt know , i also had an issue with a sensor that they couldnt fix ,and kept telling me that there wasnt a problem ,5 times it went in and 5 times ,theres no problem , yet bristol street fixed it 1st time i contacted ford customer service who told me they were well aware of evans halshaw wton and their service ,but nothing has ever been done about them , but i wont ever use them again
