or the mdbarber approach, "It didn't say you couldn't smash the TV's anywhere so you must be allowed to"
... The sad fact of this case is that the SOGA may well have helped out, it'd have been a better bet than smashing up TV's at least.Bought, not Brought0 -
He should really have used a lump hammerIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

Saw this story a while ago.
Turns out that he installed it himself (fitting to the wall, not using a special hinge that they sell) and it fell off the wall! Hence why he wasnt covered.
Even the SOGA wouldnt cover him against that would it?Green and White Barmy Army!0 -

Yes, if it was faulty already. Can't recall how long he'd had it (presumably it's in the article), but an inherent fault is an inherent fault. There'd obviously be doubt about whether it was faulty or whether he ahd damaged it during installation but dependant on how long he'd had it, the responsibility to prove this would be on the company (up to 6 months) or him (after 6 months)Bought, not Brought0 -
He'd had it 8 months so he'd have to prove it

If it wasn't covered by the insurance should he get a refund of the premium?
£360 for an £800 TV sounds a bit excessive. Better to just hope that the TV lasts long enough for the costs to come down and buy another one0 -

Doubt it, the insurance covered what it said it would cover. Unless you mean for the remainder of the insured period, in which case it would probably depend on the terms of the insurance. Probably the least of his worries at this stage anyway.Bought, not Brought0 -
Think I didnt word my post correctly.
He fitted it himself to his wall, using now special fittings. Just attaching it to the wall (using a bit of wood if I remember correctly).
Tv then fell off the wall and stopped working.
Man goes back to shop and says 'it doesnt work'. They soon found out it wasnt working because it broke after falling off the wall.
There is no way the SOGA should cover that.Green and White Barmy Army!0 -

'adviCe' not 'adviSe'
'off' not 'of' (IIRC should actually be 'from')
'amateur' not 'amatuar'
Hope this makes it a bit easier to read.0
