£105 for a small skip!!!!

I'm going to attempt to lay a patio this weekend, I started digging up the lawn but didn't realise how much soil I'd need to shift.
I've rung up a few skip hire firms and the cheapest I can get a 4 yard skip for is £105 (including VAT).
Anyone got any ideas on how I can money save on this?

mmm.. you could try a Hippo bag ( http://www.hippobag.co.uk/product/page.asp?nav=2 ) at 81 quid for 1.5 tonnes, or fill rubble bags with the excess soil and try a few *registered* waste removal co's - I had quotes for around 60 quid for a transit van full (luckily the builders I got in later shifted the lot for free).
If it's decent topsoil, advertise it in the freesheets, free to collectors.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer0 -
Hippo bags look the same as Joey bags (http://www.joeybag.co.uk/).
Priced these up and they work out more expensive than a skip.Cashback earned

Sadly the soil is useless, our house is a new build and basically the builders have just chucked down abit of topsoil ontop of the rubble from the college that was formally on the site then laid some turf.Cashback earned

Hippo bags definately work out more expensive. A 4 yard skip will hold 4 tons, an 8 yard will hold 8 tons etc.
The largest 'builders' skip you'll get is an 8 yrd. I have a full one sat on my drive at the moment awaiting collection. I just hope they can lift it as it's packed with rubble/concrete:D. It was £110 all in.

Blame the Government for the prices ! all the paperwork has got out of hand.
I am digging out my back garden to put in a wall, I estimate I will need 3 or 4 skips to move the spoil. When the first skip was exchanged the lorry driver spent ages filling in a form which I then had to sign.
Joy of joys ! I am now "a licensed producer of waste" - but only for a month ! The skip provider is a licensed remover of waste and some other poor devil is the licensed disposer of waste.
No wonder people fly-tip !!0
