oil filled or convector for bedrooms

I'm looking at puting either hard-wired wall mounted convectors or oil filled heaters in the bedrooms of a house i am building. I understand that there will not be much difference in running costs and that the oil-filled will be more expensive to buy. My main criteria is safety, especially as the bedrooms will be used by young children. Can anyone advise on the best choice from a safety point of view? Thank you.

Both types are as safe as each other.

I suppose that kids could poke something into the grill of the convector heater; but they wouldn't do it twice!!

Thanks Cardew. I was thinking that if something was to cover the heater by mistake then there would be a greater chance of fire with the convector than with an oil-filled. I am thinking this because i would have thought that the top of a convector where the heat escapes is going to be hotter than the top of an oil-filled because the heat from the oil filled is spread around the appliance and distributed more slowly whereas with a convector the heat output is concentrated at the top and the heat is distributed more quickly.

I would have thought a bathroom fan heater would be the better option as it is hung on the wall usually towards the ceiling out of reach.

Make sure the heater is approved for bathroom use.
