I know this thread has been up before, but I've never quite got my head round it. How do I input the prefix, with a timer, then the mobile number into my contacts memory so that my mobile will ring thru 1899 directly. I think you have to input 3 *** . Can someone explain please. I have vodafone pay as you go set up. Thanks

    IIRC:

    <access number> <pause> <number to call>

So if you're using 1899 and calling 02071111111 you enter:

    08081708708p02071111111

If that doesn't work substitute the p for a comma ( , ). I think it depends on the phone make.

The p/comma is a pause that waits a while before dialing the subsequent numbers. You can add more pauses if you need more time for the first number to dial and connect.

This is assuming you're using the 0808 access number, if it's the 0207 one, use that instead.

I think this is for Nokia phones but may work on others

Hi Charlie, this is where I get a little confused, I have just accessed the 1899 website to check the instructions for set up. It says to dial 020-7001-9696, wait for the voice then dial(your suggestion) 02071111111. I am also on cable(NTL). I dont know if this alters the original access code. I understand what you mean when adding the p, that is the timer. Unless you make any other suggestions to these thoughts, I will try that tomorrow. Thanks for the advice

The 0808 access no is ok from Cable,Orange contract phones, some O2 mobile contracts. On Vodafone payg it might be more beneficial to use the 1899 020 access no depending on time of day etc, particularly if you are using the stop the clock promotion.EG. Cross network calls on Voda Payt cost 35p a minute so a 5 min Evening /Weekend call costs £1.75.However if you are using S the C,and you use the 1899 020 access the same call would cost 15p voda+3pconnection 1899+ 50p for mobile call+68p a saving of£1.07p.Its even cheaper at weekends. Also using the same method you can get cheaper evening and weekend intl calls. It does of course depend on what Voda payt tariff you are on.

Different phone have different ways of inputting pause. On a Nokia you enter access no then xxx to show pause, then destination no.
    PF.
