Do you need original phone number to get unlock code??

Hi there, sorry to be a bit dim, I have just sold my phone on ebay, Nokia 6680, and the person who bought wants to unlock it from Vodaphone. He says that he can do it if he rings Vodaphone, he has the imei number but says he needs the original phone number so that they can check it is one of their phones. He is happy to pay the fee to do it, just wanted to make sure he's not scamming me.
Any thoughts anyone ???
Cheers

it's true that Vodafone are the only ones that unlock it, but if you are unhappy giving him the telephone number why not get him to pay you whatever it costs to unlock it via paypal (don't forget they charge you a fee...add that on) and give him the code ??

not sure what vodafone are doing but they should know which are their phones from the IMEI regardless of phone number. If you were to ring up to bar the handset you would only need IMEI.
  • Nokias can be easily unlocked from shops anyway - probably for less than Vodafone might charge. Or, there is a Nokia unlock codes thread at the top of this forum.

What happens if you can't remember the phone number. How can he unlock it without it?
