Three questions for knowledgable guys please

A month or so ago, I did an upgrade from a SE K750i to SE K850i using the vodaphone network and for a couple of reasons elected to replace my sim in the old phone and returned the 850 to it's box and draw.

My daughter showed an interest in the 850 and took it to try, but the sim card in her SE800i would not fit, plus she is on orange. It is my understanding that my phone is locked to vodaphone.

If it is, how easy/expensive is it to get it unlocked?

Is there any reason why the sim card should not fit?

and finally, my daughter has insurance through orange with her SE800i, so if we were able to overcome the first two problems and get my phone working via orange for her, would we in any way invalidate it by using a phone which had been created/constructed/destined for the vodaphone network?

    Hiya,

Vodafone operate a free unlocking service for all their pay monthly handsets. Phone them up and you should get an unlock code (their may be an administrative time delay, but usually ok within a week or so i think.)

The sim cards are standard. Ensure you're putting the sim in the right way etc. Ensure you're putting it in correctly also (if you want to check the sims themselves, place them next to each other and compare - pretty sure you'll find they're the same)

handset manual usually has a diagram/description to show how you put the sim in correctly.

As above - should be free to unlock via vodafone.

Orange Insurance will cover the SIM and Handset you got directly from Orange. It will not cover the new handset. There is no way to get this handset (your vodafone one) covered under Orange Care (the insurance).

If you want to keep the insurance, you;ll have to keep the same handset. If you don't, then cancel the insurance and use the new handset.

    hope this helps.

Yes, it dies thanks. I think we have a few things here. My daughter SE with orange is a contract and no PAYG.

As for the insurance, I think I am right in saying that due to her contract, the insurance is free, so if we did proceed and anything happened to MY phone, she hasn't lost anything because I'd given it to her anyway.

Regarding the sim cards size? I may have misunderstood that. She is due to arrive later today so we can endeavour to sort this out then. Thanks again.

i'd check about the insurance being free. it is usually £5 or £6 (unless you have been given a credit on your bill?)

Yes, if it is your phone, and she loses it, she can always just go back to her phone - better than not using the newer phone really.
