Sorry if I have offended anyone, it wasn't intentional. I am on other landlord related forums but I also know there are lots of landlords on this forum who offer valuable advice and opinions so I thought I would ask MSE registered landlords a question. The information given is open and available to both landlords and tenants to use in whatever way it may assist them. This post is not locked to anyone who is not a landlord - if a tenant reads this and realised that landlords are struggling in a particular area then they may be enlightened and try negotiating on the rent. Equally it could assist new landlords or those considering becoming one. I asked the question to "landlords" simply because I didnt think tenants would really be able to answer my question.

Like I said, I just wanted a friendly discussion. Thank you to those who have responded so far.

Thank you! I think landlords are made of sterner stuff than that though ;)

If you don't like the thread, don't read it. Why do you have to spoil it for everyone else? I for one am interested in what is going on on the rental market and no I'm not a LL, I'm just interested in the general state of the economy. So annoying:mad:

I endorse your comments. I am not a LL either but I have a genuine interest in UK matters. I am keen to find out how the LHA scheme is doing..........this must be of interest to many renters and consumers.

I dont think landlords should be prevented from posting - we dont want this board to end up like housepricecrash.co.uk where every thread that doesnt concur with the politics of some of the users gets swamped.

without meaning to sound rude, would you not be better of posting this on a landlord forum e.g. landlordzone or singing pig etc. This website, including the property forum, is really here for consumers, and in particular moneysaving consumers. I don't really see how your post fits in with that ethos? You'd probably find more people to share your experiences with on a dedicated landlord website.
Title says it all, addressed to all LL's

People wanting to rent has never been stronger and we are able to raise our rents to very good levels and have viewers thrusting cash into our hands to secure the property there and then.

to be honest on a personal level as someone priced out of owning a home, and visiting this website in order to learn how to save cash so I can eventually afford one it is a bit galling to read through threads of landlords gloating + backslapping each other on how easy it is to rent out their property and what rent increases they have pushed through!

    Where have you been?
There are people on these boards trying to scare home owning people into thinking that they are going to be consumed by the debt and that they will have no hope in the future.
These boards are here for everybody to ask FREE questions about things that they need help and advice on. And long may it continue.

No - you can just ignore this thread! Do you rant at people on the pensions board cos they have a pension? Do you rant at people on the mortgage board cos they have a mortgage?

Following on from the thread that we commented on so frequently on, and had such opposing views on, I find myself agreeing with you backfrmtheedge!!:rotfl:
I am not a LL but am following the thread with interest, as a tenant!

I don't understand the HPC reference.

The BBC article I linked in my previous post states that there is a demonstrable inverse proportional link between house prices and rents.

House prices down - Rents up.

Hence the HPC reference. It's an uncomfortable truth for those who have sold and are renting in anticipation of reduced house prices later, that capital will erode faster than anticipated because of this.

To save you scrolling back, the BBC article is here.
