Keying text onto a PDF file?

Options
Hi,
I have an application form to fill out and for neatness I would like to type directly onto the PDF document but don't know how too. Can anyone give any help?

Many thanks,
G

You could select all and copy the application form into Open Office which has built in PDF saving functions, fill out the data then save it as a PDF again.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

    Just a point...

Does the job application details say to fill in in writing? Just mentioning it because one of my friends has a habit of throwing typed applications straight in the bin without looking at them because the job description says to apply in writing and if they can't even follow that simple instruction, in her mind they're not worth even interviewing.

Thanks for swift replies guys. I will give it a try.

Also Conor, yes the application does state can be typed or hand written in black ink, but as my writing is on the same lines as a Doctors persciption, I think the typing is safer!!

there are some free programs (google for pdf form filling) that can do this for you on the net but they arent great . I bought one in the end when I applied for a Police Staff role (but didnt get the job) and it wasnt cheap either! My handwriting was fine til the advent of the keyboard ;)

Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader (v8). Then read the posts on a very similar topic below, it should answer your question.

Perhaps they mean that you are permitted to use a typewriter for this.
If they expected you to fill in the form using a PC then surely they would have made the PDF document amendable.
In the Document Properties it would say:-
Filling of form fields : Allowed
    I agree with Conor's reply. (That's a first).

If you have application form in PDF format you can use the Typewriter function in PDF-XChange Viewer

It defaults to Courier New font which is not very readable, I cannot see how to change this apart from typing required text, selecting all (Ctrl+A) and then change font.

She’s obviously the sort of person who actively discriminates against any applicant with dyslexia or a physical disability that makes writing difficult. Unless you’re advertising the position of a calligrapher, there are plenty of technical solutions for people who have a problem with handwriting.
