How do I fill in an application on Adobe

I have been emailed an application form on Adobe, which I have to fill in and email back. Is there a way of doing this without having to print it. The form will not allow me to type on it. I am not good at any of this, so step by step instructions would be appreciated if anyone is able to help.

Many thanks.

Pretty sure that is the whole point of pdf files, ie they cant be edited easily lol
    1 Print out form
    2. fill in details
3 scan filled in form and email back
    or
phone people who sent it to you explain you dont have a scanner or pdf editing software and can they send you a copy in word format

If they expected you to type in it then they should have sent it to you in something like word. Alternative is to pay for a PDF editor (hundreds of pounds for Adobe's own or about £50 for Foxit's). If they're expecting you to email it back then ask them for it in an editable format or print it out and write on it, scan it in and email it. Or convert it to word and convert it back again (although that's messy, certainly with formatting).

PDF forms are designed to be filled out by users via the free Adobe Reader, it was one of the major points of the upgrade to v7, it's now at v8. Older versions don't support this capability.

As long as the original PDF file has been created correctly (i.e. the form has had the "local save" capability enabled and created with a recent version of Acrobat) users with the free Adobe Reader can fill out forms, local save them and return them.

No printing and re-scanning, nor expensive commercial versions of Acrobat are required by the end user :)

I'm assuming the OP has tried actually typing in the fields though.

If that's the case then it's highly likely it's either: not set-up as a real "electronic form" i.e. the fields aren't actually fields at all, just drawn boxes; or it hasn't had a local save option set-up at creation, which then won't enable the user to complete and re-save a "filled in" version of the form.

Or the OP doesn't have an up-to-date version of Adobe Reader.

You can use the Typewriter function in PDF-XChange Viewer

It defaults to Courier New font which is not very readable, I cannot see how to change this apart from typing required text, selecting all (Ctrl+A) and then change font.
