Ely again, no chicken drumsticks but chicken legs, 4 pack tesco brand was shelf priced 1.94 for 900-1100g 4 pack, all the packs were 1.94 per k and in the 900-1100g weight range but priced per k. There was the big display label saying 1.94 chicken 4 leg pack, nothing about per kg. I got a few packs and had success but interesting conversation, I went with the CS lady and she commented 'well it is obvious they mean per kg since the package shows a kg price of 1.94' to which I replied actually it is obvious it is on special for 1.94 per package as the special sign reads as well as the shelf tag. She conferred with a few other managers and logic won out! She did remove the big display sign but not the shelf stick which is also showing the error, so that might still work.
  • I also tried the kippers but they scanned at the lower price so sent them back. :D

Also noticed prawn cocktail but wasn't cheeky enough to try that as well (no hand scanners in my stores). Pack price is £1.48, shelf price is £1.47 - maybe someone can investigate what they scan at?

Another red herring is tesco low fat mature cheddar. Pack price is £1.49 but it scans at the lower shelf price of £1.42

Guess I'll have to start getting Cd's instead of food.

    Razorlight CD: Shelf £9.77 & Poster £5.98 - Till £9.77 - Shame!
Jem CD was possibly wrong - Shelf and Poster differ.
Elton John CD: The Greatest Hits 1970 - 2002
Sticker on CD £9.77 and shelf were 20p different.
Strange anyway, as this is £11.24 on Tesco.com
Couldn't check so left it for now.

Other CD's were wrong but difficult to verify again, as security box distorts the barcode!

Got the refund from the cheese and CD above.
CS couldn't have been more apologetic. Checked and removed cheese label then came back and said the CD label was okay now, but he would trust me as they had had trouble over there! I said the poster was at fault not the SEL. I asked how many people do you think have been O/C on the cheese in the 44 hrs since I bought it! He joked to me that this is probably why Tesco had made so much profit! A little truth in that "joke" me thinks!

Now got the Jem CD and the Elton John CD.
Wrongly priced as originally noted on Monday (post 42) but didn't like to buy too many at once!
    A Cambs store.

  • Thanks Jummy re the Tesco Roebuck and Jem cd misprice. Got one this evening. CS lady insisted that the shelf price said £9.97 so I had to go with her and show her the poster. She still couldn't comprehend that the poster said 'from £9.97' but next to Jem it said £7.47. Got my money back plus an apology :). Also, got my Joey refused as apparently they have been told from head office to only accept one 'goodwill' voucher to the value of £1.50!

Got the Garlic & Lemon Chicken from the Bishops Cleeve store today. CS man didn't have a clue what I was talking about re: overcharged and refund policy. It took him about 20 minutes to understand my explanation of Tesco's policy(!), check everything and get some help to do the refund. I didn't mind though, he was obviously new and went red as a beetroot every time he looked at me (I hope that this was due to embarrassment or the fact that I am so gorgeous lol!).

Anyway, I eventually left the store with my free chicken. He didn't remove the label from the shelf though, so anyone else who lives near the Cleeve store can go get themselves a free chicken!
  • I'm probably being dense, but what does SEL stand for?

    Thanks
