I`ve just found out that i havent been paid the disability child tax credits since 2006 even though i am entitled to it. The office tell me it will be backdated to when dla came in but cant tell me when i can expect a payment. Has ANYONE got any idea how long this will take approximately?? I am only getting basic tax credit at mo and its crippling me. I dunno how much i should be getting so if there is anyone out there who can give me a clue please do so.
many thanks

When you claim tax credits and you are awarded it TCO will write to you to adv you of your entitlement and on their it will tell you what you have been awarded- I take it you didnt check any of the award notices/renewals which wouldn't have shown the DLA marker. Also, when a change is made an advisor cant tell you when you will get the backdated payment until the change is fuly processed- would you rather be lied to?

thanks hotblu......i had no idea about the dla element of tax credits so didnt know to check....the person i spoke to said although it would be backdated it would take time....and thats all they said0

They took about a week from me notifiying them about my son's DLA to send a payment (Backdated to 3 months).Payment a day challenge: £236.69
Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/150000 -
thank you ... i was told it would be backdated from when i first got dla paid0

3 months can be automatically backdated without a problem usually, but if it is to be backdated further they need to send a referral to request further backdating. If it was as far back as to have been in a previous year in which the award has been finalised, it can take much longer as they have red tape they need to get through as you are not simply allowed by law to make certain changes to a finalised award.0

Hi,
I contacted them today and it has been referred to a different department as it runs back to the last tax year....unfortunately dont know how long this will take though..0 -
We were told it couldn't be backdated! More money we should have been entitled to but never got :mad:No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

I was told that it can be backdated sometimes if it is the child disability tax credit??? When i rang them today they confirmed this. I have also read online that this can be the case.0

Funny how they don't tell people that when they claim for it. It's probably too late for us to get it now.
Good luck with your claimNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
hi,
I have read also that people have managed to get the claim backdated to 5 years but only if it was the fault of the tax office. Thank you for the luck...i may just need it. I asked them if this was going to take months to sort out and i was told that it would not take months but it could take weeks !!!0
