My new Seat Altea is wonderful, I love it.
This is from the Seat website.....................................
Winner of “Safest car in its category” in the recent Euro NCAP tests, this 5 door midi-MPV was the first in the new range of SEATs and is available in a range of engine sizes and trim levels from the economical 1.6 8V Reference to the 2.0 TDI DSG Sport.
From £11,695 on the road*
Our local dealer has had Pre registered models from £9999 on the road recently, mines the 2.0 TDI DSG Sport but the build quality is good throughout the range. To get similar features on an Audi you will pay 30% more.0 -
Another thought, Kia have won big plaudits in tha last few months for their decent dirt cheap cars.
My folks recently got a brand new Kia Rio for £6,000. A family car for less than a super-mini!!!
Whatever you do end up deciding to buy, bear in mind the servicing costs, as another thread shows, most of the time servicing costs are £300+ from a dealer!!

After having a look at the weekend, the wife and I just can't agree on what we want. She has her eye on a Zafira but the ones we saw are just so dull. I saw a nice Vectra (1.9 CDTI SRi with 150 bhp), and although this was originally near the top of the list, the wife doesn't seem happy with anything unless she gets her Zafira.
No doubt I will end up relenting as she will after all be the primary driver of the vehicle. Maybe if I could stretch the budget to a 2.0 DTI SRi, then I might be convinced ...0 -
We have just got our 2nd Zafira, it's a 1.8 automatic and it's Brill, wish we'd had a auto years ago.Cost £8999 on a 04 plate, there are good bargins to be had as a new Zafira is about to come in the showrooms, the new one looks fantastic but costs lots more. Not ashamed to say ABBA are Great :j0

My Mondeo 1.8LX '03' 1st & 2nd services have cost me £116.99 each. I suppose I should be happy with my dealer servicing costs then?MORPH3US wrote:...most of the time servicing costs are £300+ from a dealer!!0 -

Yes the Kia/Hyundai cars are worth serious consideration right now, the quality of build and reliability is very good (almost up to Japanese/German standards apart from the plasticky interiors and even they're getting better all the time) and the cars are very cheap.
For diesels the VW/Peugeots are very good BUT the latest Honda and Toyota diesels are just as good, and these marques do generally offer the best reliability on the market.
If it were my money I'd be looking at a year-old Honda Accord.0
