T-Mobile PAYG - £10 charge for non use of credit?

I passed my 3 yr old Motorola PAYG phone to my Dad recently - I received it as a free gift when it was on the One to One network, but it automatically became T-Mobile when I registered it - and he phoned me yesterday to say that he read recently that if T-Mobile customers don't use their credit up within 3 months, they will be charged £10!! Apparently it's a new thing.
Does anybody know anything more about this please as it's quite a worry. I put £5 credit on the phone for my Dad and as he will only be using it in case of emergency, he won't need to keep using it up. I had told my Dad the £5 will just stay on there as long as he needs it. Was I wrong? Have the rules changed?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou,
Carrie

I didn't ask but I think you cant be charged for something you didn't do :-D
the possibility is you lose the credit you have if you don't use itLife should not be taken seriously, as no one would get out alive0 -
This got me worried, so I called T-Mobile, and here's the deal ...
Your credit never expires (so the man said). HOWEVER, if you don't make at least one call (or send an SMS?) every 180 days, your number goes into hibernation and then it costs £10 to have it revived. If you don't use the number for 90 days after it's gone into hibernation, you lose it altogether.
Hope this helps.0 -
Oh that's great, thankyou (hopefully the man was correct in what he told you). I'll tell my Dad the good news.
