am i being fed lies?

recently signed up to ukonline for broadband (having used dial up until now) however,i cannot get connected because ukonline say that i have an incompatible product on my phone line (whatever that means )and that i need to contact BT to have it removed, however on phonong Bt they say that ukonline have set up the LLU and there should be no problems as they have requested the line share,i have removed my number withhold and 1571 from my phone but Bt say that ukonline should know what to do as they are the ones saying theres a problem, yet ukonline will not discuss anything to do with BT with me.
so no one will talk to me about it-ukonline have taken the first payment already and i have no connection yet,i purchased a modem and filters etc and cannot do anything with them!!! anybody had this problem before.

  • we had exactly the same problem when we left freeserve to switch to telecom plus, at the same time we sticehd from bt to telecom plus. When TP tried to set up our new broadband supply is again told us that we had an imcompatible product on the line. BT wouldnt talk to us as we were no longer a customer of thiers, and freeserve cwouldnt speak with us as we were not a customer of thiers. TP sorted it out eventually as we were getting nowhere, but just to warn you it took 3 months !!!! It turned out BT hadnt switched off what ever they were supposed to of switched off !! oh but didnt BT just love blaming freeserve and freeserve love blamin BT. glad ive got shot of them both !!!!!!
  • sorry I hit return, as I was dishing up kids tea, (apologies for typos too) can you go back to your new supplier and explain what has happened. Tp thankfully took no money from us for our new internet supply until BT had sorted out thier act, however I had to use a tesco dial up during those 3 months, and was extremely tempted to go to BT with the bill !!!! thier customer ervice is appalling !!! at the end of the day if UKonline want to take your money, then surely its up to them to see they are providing you with a working product ? ? ? ? ? ?

Absolutely the contract is with the one charging the payment basically, if they have a supply problem with BT it is their problem and NOT yours, they are charging you for a service which they are not supplying.

It is probably BT screwing the whole thing up deliberately to discourage people from making the switch, the same happened with Gas and Electricity de-regulation, make the experience miserable and blame everyone else!
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.
