Knutsford

When travelodge had their sale my husband and I booked three nights at Knutsford which we will be taking at the beginning of June. We know nothing of this area and would be grateful fo advice on places to see and eat etc. on a tight budget. Also I should mention I am a wheelchair user so flat places please.Thankyou

    Hi Tatton Park is near Knutsford (one gate is actually at the end of the main street, but I'm not sure if that entrance is wheelchair friendly). The grounds are free, but it costs to park and go in the house (house free to NT members, but not car park)

    Also not far away is Styal Mill - also NT and worth a visit, the kids will love it, but the mill building itself is not w/c friendly.

    Knutsford itself is expensive - you might be struggling to find cheap places to eat, but hopefully someone more local might be along soon with 'insider knowledge'.

    I think there are two Travelodges, neither of which is in the town centre. One of them is part of Motorway Services.

    Thankyou for your quick replies, the gardens sound nice.I think we are at the Travelodge on the motorway M6.
    We heard Knutsford is expensive so I am taking a little fridge[meant for beer] which should hold some milk butter and cheese spread, will also take cereals and bowls so thats breakfast sorted and biscuits and cheese for tea. So really what I am looking for are Tesco or Asda with cafe or something like weatherspoons.You see I am a money saver.

    Hi

    There is Jodrell Bank radio telescope that has a visitor centre where you could visit... I think there is work going on there at the moment, it is a real point of interest on the Cheshire Plains.

    For eating I quite like the Edgerton Arms in Chelford, nice pub food.

    Arley Hall is near by , as is various NT sites. Chester Zoo, Chester, Cheshire Oaks, there is a large Tourist Info point just outside the door to the travelodge so if you get stuck you can always look there.

    If you eat out in the evening in Alderley Edge... you can do some Man United football player spotting... also, during the day there is the famous Barnardo's charity shop in Alderley Edge where you can pick up little worn high end designer gear which has been caste off by various rich and famous..

    Hi, I live near Lymm which Isn't too far from Knutsford. Tatton Park is lovely! Jodrell Bank Isn't too far away either! As the Lodge is on the M6 it will also be easy to get in to Manchester or Chester aswell if you have transport, there is also the Trafford Centre just off the M6. Warrington is also nice for shopping. Whatever you decide I hope you both have a good time. These sites may help;

    Thanyou all once again.Will certainly look at barnado's, hope some of the stars are fatties like me.The links are really good too.Someone with the know how ought to start a link of different places and money saving ideas while at them. So that we could just alphabetically look up town to see whats on and also add things we have found that save money while we are there.But I wouldn't know where to start.
